Maggie Lu's Safe Haven Rescue

We rescue lost, mistreated, neglected and abused dogs, provide veterinary care and place in foster homes until a permanent home can be found.

Founded by dog-lover Christa Nigito, Maggie Lu's SHR works with volunteers, to rescue, transport, get veterinary care and find homes for abandoned, abused, and dogs surrendered to high kill shelters. We are a foster based non-profit 501C3 all breed dog rescue located in Charlotte NC. Most of our dogs are pulled from high-kill rural shelters located throughout the Carolinas. Maggie Lu's SHR is always in need of donations, to help with the care and medical costs that is associated with saving them. All of our dogs are fully vetted, neutered/spayed and in
good health unless otherwise noted, when they are ready to be adopted.

They are ready to steal hearts, collect belly rubs, and hopefully meet their future families! 🥹🐾

🎉🐾 STEPHANIE IS ADOPTED!!! 🐾🎉

Our sweet Stephanie has FINALLY found her FUREVER HOME, and this one has our hearts absolutely BEAMING! 🥹❤️

Stephanie has always held a special place in our hearts. After being owner-surrendered to Friends of Anson County Animal Shelter , she watched as her puppies were pulled by rescues while she sat waiting for someone to choose HER. 💔

At Maggie Lu’s Safe Haven Rescue, we have an extra soft spot for mamas, and we knew we had to get this beautiful girl out as soon as we could! ❤️

From that moment on, Stephanie was showered with love (and spoiled absolutely ROTTEN!) by her incredible foster family. She stole hearts at every adoption event, greeted everyone with her sweet personality, and patiently waited for her turn.

And then… SOCIAL MEDIA WORKED ITS MAGIC! ✨🐾

Her new family saw her post, fell in love, and just KNEW she was meant to be theirs! 🥹❤️

Now, our sweet mama finally gets to be someone’s baby! Stephanie has a wonderful mom, dad, and TWO young boys to call her very own! 🏡💕 She’s already soaking up all the love and attention, and you can see just how incredibly HAPPY and LOVED she is! They even named her Teya meaning Goddess!

After everything she’s been through, knowing Stephanie will spend the rest of her life being cherished is EVERYTHING to us. ❤️

A HUGE thank you to her amazing foster family, supporters, specifically volunteer Q (of which they held a special bond), Anson County Animal Shelter, everyone who shared her posts, and her wonderful new family for giving our girl the happy ending she deserves!

Happy FUREVER, Stephanie! 🐾❤️ You were worth the wait, sweet girl. Now go enjoy being the spoiled princess you were always meant to be! 👑🥹

🐾💙 WYATT IS ADOPTED!!! 💙🐾

Some adoptions just hit a little differently, and this is DEFINITELY one of them! 🥹❤️

Our sweet, blue-eyed boy Wyatt has FINALLY found his FUREVER HOME! 🏡🐶

Wyatt came into rescue at just 8 weeks old in reference from one of our partnered vet techs and together, we were able to find his foster. From there, his incredible foster family opened their hearts and home, raising him from a tiny puppy into the absolute GOODEST boy over the course of more than a year! ❤️

They watched him grow, taught him everything he knows, loved him like their own, and prepared him for the day we all hoped would come.

And that day is FINALLY HERE! 🥹🎉

After losing their beloved dog, Wyatt’s new family reached out to us to discuss which of our rescue pups might be the perfect fit for their home. And wouldn’t you know it? They fell head over heels for our handsome, blue-eyed boy! 💙

Sometimes the right family comes along at exactly the right time. And for Wyatt, it was worth the wait. ❤️

To his AMAZING foster family: THANK YOU. Thank you for giving this boy over a year of love, patience, guidance, and a place to call home. We know saying goodbye isn’t easy, especially when you’ve loved them since they were babies. But THIS is what fostering is all about. 🐾❤️

Wyatt has been with us since practically the beginning of his life, and watching him finally fly the coop is bittersweet in the BEST possible way.

Our hearts are absolutely BURSTING with happiness knowing our boy is so loved and has a family to call his very own. 🥹💙

Happy FUREVER, Wyatt! You’ve been our baby for so long, and now it’s your turn to live your happily ever after! 🏡🐾❤️
