Meet Cedar! 🌲

7-month-old Cedar is a Malamute/Australian Shepherd mix with a heart just as special as his unique markings. 🐾

Cedar and his siblings were discovered in the back forty of a flower farm in southern Tennessee, where they were surrounded by flowers, farm animals, children and plenty of opportunities to learn how to be good canine citizens. 🌸🐶🐐🐓 Two adult Great Pyrenees even helped raise and socialize the puppies!

While Cedar may be a little more stoic and calm than his siblings, don’t mistake his quiet nature for a lack of fun. This boy loves to play, is highly food motivated and absolutely lights up when there’s water involved! 💦

Cedar is wonderful with children and other dogs, and he’s curious about the world around him. He’s ready to find someone who will give him all the love, adventures and companionship he deserves. ❤️

Could Cedar be your next adventure buddy? 🌲🐾

🏡 Cedar is ready for his forever home!

AS THE WHEELS TURN: TRANSPORT FRIDAY EDITION! 🚐✨

This week’s episode of “As the Wheels Turn” featured an eclectic cast of characters. Young and old, big and small, and all auditioning for the most important role of their lives.

This week’s hopeful rising stars include:

⭐ A sextet of black dogs chasing their dreams all the way to Colorado!
⭐ Two pups who received a last-minute callback to Rhode Island just when they were almost ready to give up on their big break.
⭐ Three aspiring amateurs making their way to Maine to work with one of the best agents in the business.
⭐ And 10 hand-picked stars heading to Vermont, where they’ll make a great first impression on a brand-new rescue partner for Luna Farms Rescue! 🎭🐶

These babies have been busting their acting chops for weeks, honing their skills, learning how to be good dogs and preparing for their big debut. Now they’re ready to represent Alabama on the biggest stage yet! 🌟

We’re wishing every member of this week’s cast the very best of luck. May their time in the spotlight be bright, but brief because the best ending to every rescue story is when the acting career comes to an end and they officially retire to cherished family member. 🏡

🚐 Stay tuned for the next episode of “As the Wheels Turn” to find out how this week’s cast does in their new roles!

And as always, thank you to our incredible fosters, transporters, rescue partners, volunteers and supporters who help make these second acts possible. It takes a village to get these stars where they belong. ❤️

Before Luna Farms, there was Luna. 💕

Before the transports.
Before the fosters.
Before the dogs who found their way onto couches, into families, and into new lives. There was one rescue dog who changed everything.

When our founder’s son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just eight years old, their family searched for every possible way to help keep him safe. That search led them to a rescue in Nashville and to Luna.

Luna learned to alert when his blood sugar dropped below 70 or climbed above 150. She showed our founder what was possible when a dog was simply given a chance.

A rescue dog could become a service dog.
A goofy family companion.
A hiking buddy.
A child’s best friend.
The dog sleeping upside down on someone’s couch who finally made it home.

Luna changed the way we see rescue.

Because sometimes, rescue isn’t about knowing exactly what a dog will become. It’s about believing they deserve the opportunity to find out. And eventually, here in Alabama, the calls started coming.

A litter of puppies.
A dog who had been dumped.
A mama who needed help.
Another animal who could no longer be ignored.

At some point, you realize you have a choice:

Look away, or don’t.

We choose not to.

Today, Luna is turning 14 🥹 And while our time with her isn’t infinite, what she started can be.

Because Luna Farms has never been about one person.

It is the fosters who open their homes.
The volunteers who give their time.
The people who drive.
The veterinarians and shelters who stand beside us.
The rescue partners who say yes.
The donors who make another yes possible.
And every person who has picked up a dog when it would have been easier to look away.

Our job is to help dogs get where they need to be.

So we rescue the dog who needs us today and we work toward a world where fewer dogs need rescuing tomorrow.

And hopefully, long after Luna is gone, dogs who never knew her name will still have better lives because she was here.

That’s her legacy.
That’s why it’s called Luna Farms. 💕

We Don’t Look Away.

PREVENTION CHANGES EVERYTHING. 💕🐾

What if we could stop some dogs from ever needing rescue in the first place?

Today, we’re incredibly excited to announce a targeted spay/neuter pilot in Marshall County, created alongside Marshall County Animal Shelter of Alabama and Lend-A-Paw.

Through years of rescue work and community vaccine clinics, we’ve learned something important:

Sometimes the problem isn’t willingness. It’s access.

Cost. Transportation. Scheduling. Time. Knowing where to start. Even when families want to do the right thing, those barriers can make it difficult to get their dogs spayed or neutered.

So we’re trying something different.

Instead of waiting for families to find the resources, we’re going to work to find the families who need them most.

We’ll go into the community, identify where the need is greatest, help families navigate the barriers, and get surgeries done.

Because our goal isn’t simply to say, “We completed more spay/neuter surgeries.”

We want to know whether putting limited resources in the right places can actually reduce the number of dogs who eventually enter shelters and rescues.

And we’re putting real resources behind that idea. ❤️

🐾 Luna Farms has committed $10,000.
🐾 Generous donors have already contributed another $5,000.
🐾 That’s $15,000 committed before we even begin.
🐾 Our initial goal is to help 100 dogs.

And this is only the beginning.

In the coming weeks, we’ll introduce the incredible veterinary teams joining this effort, share more about how the pilot will work, and tell you how you can help us reach the families who need these resources.

We’ll keep rescuing the dogs who need us today.

💗 Need help getting your dog spayed or neutered?

Our initial pilot has a limited number of funded appointments. All eligible applications will remain on file and may be contacted as additional funding becomes available.

MEET ROSE! 🌹

At just 6 months old and 37 lbs, Rose is the sweetest little shadow you could ask for! 🥹

Rose is the kind of girl who wants to be wherever her person is. If you get up, she’s following. If you move rooms, she’s right behind you. She simply loves being close to her people.

And this girl has a few things she REALLY loves:
💦 Playing in the water
🍖 Food! She is very food motivated!
🐶 Making new dog friends
💋 Giving ALL the kisses
👣 Following her favorite person around

Rose does wonderfully with both male and female dogs, and she’s not shy about letting them know she wants to play with her adorable play bows! 🐕💕

She’s spayed, potty trained, walks well on a leash, and knows “sit.” She’s also a pretty easygoing girl who would love a family ready to continue helping her learn and grow.

One thing to know: Rose is a little too interested in cats, so a cat-free home would likely be the best fit for this curious girl.

Rose has two brothers who will each be getting their own introduction soon, but today is all about this sweet, water-loving, kiss-giving girl. ❤️

🏡 READY TO ADOPT ROSE?
Rose is not currently listed on our website, so if you’re interested in making her part of your family, please fill out a generic adoption application with Luna Farms Rescue and mention Rose!

Could Rose be the shadow, playmate, and adventure buddy you’ve been looking for? 💗

WE HAVE A BAD CASE OF PUPPY LOVE! ❤️

“Puppy love” is often used to describe a light crush or infatuation named after a young dog’s brief, eager fondness. But here at Luna Farms Rescue, we think those early bonds can be anything but small. Even when they’re brief, they can leave the biggest paw prints on our hearts 🥹🐾

And right now we have a serious case of puppy love going around!

We absolutely love health certificate days because around here, they’re also affectionately known as PUPPY PARTY DAYS! 🎉

It’s one of the few days each week when the majority of our foster families and pups are all in the same place at the same time. And let us tell you… it is absolute chaos and absolute bliss! 😂

There are puppies everywhere. Happy tails. Wiggly bodies. Lots of kisses. Lots of cuddles. And, if we’re lucky, they’ll stand still for approximately 2.5 seconds which is just long enough for us to capture their yearbook photo 📸🐾

These photos become little pieces of their story for us. A reminder of the brief but incredibly special time we got to be part of their journey. And while we’re going to miss these sweet faces terribly, we’re so excited because all of these cuties will be heading out on transport soon and on to the next chapter of their lives! 🚐

So before they go, we just had to introduce you to our latest batch of puppy love 🐶💕

Which face would you have a hard time saying goodbye to? 👀👇

One week later… look at these two! ❤️‍🩹

If you’ve been following Sydney & Shane’s journey, you already know these two have been through more than any dog should. But today, we get to share something really beautiful:

They’re healing. They’re learning. And they’re discovering what it means to be loved 🤍

Their bellies have gone down so much and Shane’s face and gums are healing beautifully. Both pups are absolutely loving their new world of outside adventures, soft beds, toys, dog friends, and most importantly— people. 🥹

They are now crate trained, doing wonderfully with potty training and actively seeking out attention from their humans. They’ve really started to understand that people can be a source of comfort, safety and love. Their personalities are coming through more every day!

🐶 Shane is our quiet little sweetheart. You’ll barely hear a bark from him! He loves playing with his dog friends and toys, a good belly rub, and rolling around on his back like he owns the place 😂
He’s settling into the comforts of home and soaking up every bit of this new life.

🐶 Sydney is a little more contemplative. She loves her toys and her zoomies, but she’s also perfectly content to sit back and watch the world around her, as if she’s taking it all in and appreciating this better life she never knew existed.
She loves snuggles, gentle play, and chasing her brother. And she gives kisses to every furry friend she meets ❤️
Oh, and she has the CUTEST little “woowoo” 🥰

And yes, they still eat like every meal might be their last. Their bodies are still healing from the bloat, so they remain on a vet-guided schedule of small meals throughout the day. But even that has improved quite a bit since they first arrived.

There is still healing ahead, but look at the difference one week of safety, nourishment, medical care, patience, and love can make.

Thank you for continuing to follow their journey and for everyone who has helped give Sydney & Shane the chance to discover what life can be. Their story is far from over, but this chapter is getting a whole lot brighter 🐾✨

CAUTION: CUDDLE AT YOUR OWN RISK ⚠️🚨

Meet Joey! A professional heartbreaker, certified cuddle thief and self-proclaimed master of the puppy-dog-eye hypnosis technique. 🐶✨

Joey was one of six siblings, and when all of his brothers and sisters headed north, he decided that being heartbroken simply wasn’t for him. Instead, he seized his opportunity to have his foster mom ALL to himself. 💕 He even managed to cast a powerful spell that earned him a spot sleeping right beside her in bed. 😴🐾

But Joey’s magic doesn’t stop there! During a visit to the farm, he began practicing his hypnotic abilities on anyone brave enough to look into those soulful eyes. 👀✨ And now, Joey believes he has mastered his craft!

He’s officially trekking to Luna Farms PA to put those puppy peepers to the ultimate test and hopefully find his forever family in the North. 🏡❤️

📍 Pennsylvania adopters: Consider yourself warned. If you’re brave enough, we dare you to meet Joey and attempt to resist his spell.

But if you fall hopelessly in love…
Don’t say we didn’t warn you. 😏🐶💘

Joey is ready to work his magic. Is your heart strong enough? 🪄🐾 Apply here: https://www.lunafarmsrescue.org/animals

The power of social media to create connections never stops amazing us! ✨🐾

Sometimes a simple outing can create a ripple effect of kindness.

One of our wonderful foster moms took her Luna Farms Rescue foster puppy, Sam, along for a shopping trip to dog-friendly Sanford & Sisters in Scottsboro. Sam was welcomed with open arms by the store employees and enjoyed her time making new friends! 🐶🛍️

After meeting this delightful little pup, Sanford & Sisters followed our rescue on social media and recognized Sam in one of our posts. They reached out with a sweet comment, asking if she was the same puppy they had met and offering donations to help our rescue pups. 🥹❤️

This week, we were finally able to stop by and pick up their generous donations and we are so grateful for their kindness and support!

Thank you, Sanford & Sisters, for welcoming our foster pups, supporting our mission, and valuing our four-legged friends as much as we do. 🐾 Your generosity helps us continue saving lives and caring for dogs in need.

This is what community looks like. ❤️
