In Loving Memory of Woody Blalock
It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of our dear friend, Woody Blalock.
Woody was, without question, one of the kindest souls any of us have ever known. He gave his time, his home, and his heart to animals in need, fostering dogs and cats who needed a safe place to land. He never asked for recognition or thanks — he simply showed up, again and again, because that’s who he was. Whether it was a dog who needed patience, an animal that needed transport from a shelter, a sick animal who needed special care, or a fellow volunteer who needed a hand, Woody was there. Along side his wife, Ivy, they were a loving fospice home, caring for animals in their last months…something not everyone can do.
He got us set up at our adoption events with tents and crates, helped advocate for animals looking for homes and his two year labor of love refurbishing a bus now helps us transport our animals!
But his kindness didn’t stop at animals. Woody treated every person he met with the same warmth and generosity he gave to every four-legged friend he met. He had a way of making everyone around him feel valued, supported, and loved. If you needed help, Woody was already on his way before you finished asking.
Our organization — and so many animals who never would have found their forever homes without him — are better because Woody Blalock was part of our family. His legacy lives on in every life he touched, every animal he helped, and every person he made feel a little more special.
We will miss him more than words can say. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched during this incredibly difficult time.
Rest easy, Woody. Thank you for everything you gave us.
