As it is warming up outside we need to be aware of what our pets are walking on. Sometimes shoes are necessary to prevent paw damage when walking in the hot summer months on concrete and asphalt especially.

There are some misunderstandings about how heartworms are spread out there. They are spread by mosquitos so having a fence does not protect your pet. It only takes one mosquito to spread the disease and that is why we recommend yearly testing. Even if we spend all day, every day, indoors I think it is safe to say we come in contact with at least one mosquito. Call today to set up your appointment.

For those of you that don’t know I had a procedure to remove a kidney stone performed on May 27th. Unfortunately it did not go as planned and this has inconvenienced our clients and my staff. Please allow me to explain what happened.

Originally the plan was to have the stone removed on Wednesday, and to be back at work on Thursday. Unfortunately things did not go as planned. By 6pm that night I was taken by ambulance to the BR ER in terrible pain. Come to find out I had bleeding from the kidney. This is a complication that occurs in

Tom cats, especially neutered ones, are at risk for having their urethra blocked by a mix of mucous and crystals. You can see the bladder of this guy in the first picture, then when he was sedated and had the catheter placed, and finally the xray that shows his bladder draining and the catheter in place. If you every see your male cat squatting to p*e and nothing coming out, he could be blocked and needs to be seen immediately. This can kill them.
