Something I was thinking about and confirmed it through research. Here's what I've found :
Feeding a mother rabbit a diverse diet of fresh foods and leafy greens during pregnancy and lactation can positively influence her kits by training their palates. Kits can learn food preferences through the mother’s milk and by eating her, shall we say, left overs👀 in the nest, encouraging them to try a wider variety of healthy foods when they are weaned.
Dietary Imprinting: Studies show that when a mother is fed a varied diet, her kits are more likely to accept a wider range of foods, including greens.
Introduction to Kits: While the mother should eat a diverse diet, baby rabbits themselves should not be given treats or veggies until they are 6 months old. They start nibbling on hay and pellets at about 2–3 weeks of age.
• Healthy Development: A diverse diet for the mother aids in passing on beneficial gut flora
to her kits through f***l matter consumption, which is crucial for developing a healthy digestive system. This is what I am really interested in doing for my kits, strong digestive systems.
A reminder that feeding kits quality Pellets and Timothy hay only until they are six months old is very important. Rabbits digestion is very important and can be disturbed relatively easily.
