When every second counts, preparation matters. ❤️🐾

Our team visited GCVS NASA for our annual CPR training! A huge thank-you to their licensed veterinary technicians (LVTs) and Veterinary Criticalist for helping us strengthen our CPR techniques, review emergency procedures, recognize when CPR is needed, and practice compassionate conversations with families about resuscitation.

CPR can save lives, but it’s important to understand its limitations. In a recent RECOVER registry report covering 1,665 veterinary CPR events, circulation returned in about 28% of patients, while approximately 4% of dogs and 3% of cats survived to leave the hospital. Outcomes vary depending on the underlying illness and circumstances of the emergency.

That’s why knowing your pet’s CPR status matters. This tells our team whether you want us to attempt resuscitation if your pet’s heart and breathing stop. Discussing that decision ahead of time helps us understand your wishes and respond without losing precious time.

These conversations can be difficult, and we’re here to help you understand what CPR involves, your pet’s individual prognosis, and the options available. Choosing “do not resuscitate” (DNR) does not mean withholding other appropriate treatment or comfort care.

Continuing education helps us stay prepared to care for your cats and support the people who love them. 🐈❤️

We are so excited to share that Dr. Smith has been selected as the new chair for the FelineVMA (previously known as AAFP)’s Student Engagement Committee! 🎉 Dr. Smith first attended the AAFP conference in 2016 as a student (see photo) and she feels like this moment is full circle! She is excited to continue to pour into the students and help mentor their feline medicine career. Dr. Smith enjoys volunteering with the FelineVMA and she’s even on the youngest member on their executive board for the past four years! Cheers to growth and learning! 🐈🫶🏻💛 Cat Friendly Homes

🐾Vet Tech Week: More Than Just Kitty Cuddles!

Ever wonder what our veterinary technicians actually do? Spoiler alert: It's A LOT more than snuggling all the kittens (although that's definitely a perk 😉)!

Our techs are the ultimate multitaskers, wearing about 100 different hats every single day! 🎩🐱

💉 Nurses – Administering medications, placing IV catheters, monitoring patients, and providing critical care.

🔬 Lab Technicians – Running bloodwork, examining samples under the microscope, and helping solve medical mysteries.

⚠️Radiology Techs – Taking X-rays and helping our doctors see what's going on beneath the surface.

💤 Anesthesia Experts – Monitoring vital signs and keeping patients safe and comfortable during procedures.

Dental Hygienists – Cleaning teeth, taking dental X-rays, and helping keep those pearly whites healthy!

💗 Patient Advocates – Providing comfort, easing fears, and making sure every patient gets the love and attention they deserve.

🧠 Educators – Helping pet parents understand medications, treatments, and how to care for their furry family members at home.

And that's STILL just scratching the surface!

Behind every successful appointment, surgery, and recovery is a hardworking team of technicians juggling a million things while making it all look easy (even when it's definitely NOT! 😂).

This Vet Tech Week, we're celebrating the knowledge, skill, compassion, and dedication it takes to do this incredible job. Our techs aren't *just* animal lovers. They're highly skilled medical professionals, and we couldn't do it without them! 💙🐾

Those whiskers aren’t just for looking ridiculously cute! They’re sensitive sensory tools that help cats detect nearby movement and navigate their surroundings. 🐾

Today we’re celebrating an incredible milestone Angela’s 20th anniversary with The Feline Medical Center!

For two decades, Angela has been part of caring for countless cats and helping make FMC the special place it is today. Twenty years is an amazing accomplishment, and we’re so grateful for all the knowledge, dedication, compassion, and memories she has brought to our team over the years.

It's that time of year again! From now until 10/26/26 we will be taking in submissions for our cat costume contest. We'll post the three finalist for y'all to vote on! The winner will receive a year's worth of Revolution Plus and a complimentary nail trim! The winner must be up to date on their Rabies vaccine prior to the complimentary nail trim redemption.
