๐ŸŒˆ Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day ๐ŸŒˆ

Today, we remember the cats who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and the paw prints they left behind on our hearts. ๐Ÿพ

Some may have been with us for years. Others, far too briefly. But every cat leaves something behind: a favorite spot on the couch, a familiar meow, a silly habit, or simply the feeling of being loved.

To everyone missing a beloved cat today: we remember them with you. โค๏ธ

Share a photo of a special kitty youโ€™ve loved and lost, and tell us their name. Letโ€™s fill the comments with the beautiful memories they left behind. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿˆ

๐Ÿˆ WHAT'S IN YOUR CAT CARRIER?๐Ÿˆ

Be honestโ€ฆ what does your cat's carrier look like? ๐Ÿ‘€

Is it:
A cozy blanket
A favorite toy
One very offended cat
A few medications
An emergency towel
Treats for bribery
Cleaning supplies becauseโ€ฆ you know
Or completely empty because your cat somehow knows when it comes out?

Bonus points: Does your cat love their carrierโ€ฆ or does the carrier disappear into the closet until vet day? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Tell us what's in your cat carrier! โฌ‡๏ธ๐Ÿพ
P.S. Keeping the carrier out and making it part of your cat's everyday environment can help make future trips a little less stressful.

๐Ÿ“… National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day โ€“ August 22 ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿ’™

Cats are experts at hiding pain and illness, which means problems can go unnoticed until they become more serious. A yearly (or twice-yearly for seniors) veterinary visit is one of the best ways to keep your cat healthy and comfortable.

A wellness exam can help detect:

Dental disease
Kidney disease ๐Ÿ’ง
Arthritis ๐Ÿพ
Weight changes โš–๏ธ
Heart conditions โค๏ธ

And other health concerns before obvious symptoms appear

Whether your cat is a playful kitten, a healthy adult, or a wise senior, preventive care helps them enjoy more happy years by your side.

๐Ÿ“ž If your cat is due for a checkup, give us a call and letโ€™s get them on the schedule!

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ’— The Ketamine Queens have entered the chat!

Our doctor team had the best time stepping away from the clinic for some food, fun, and team bonding at Chicken N Pickle with some of the amazing DVMs in our area! ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ“
Weโ€™re so grateful for opportunities to connect with other veterinary professionals, build friendships, and remind ourselves that veterinary medicine is even better when we support each other.
Long live the Ketamine Queens! ๐Ÿ‘‘

๐Ÿ˜ด WHY DOES MY CAT SLEEP SO MUCH? ๐Ÿฑ

If you've ever looked over at your cat sleeping for the fifth time today and thought, โ€œDo you ever do anything?โ€ you're not alone. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Cats are naturally big sleepers, often snoozing 12โ€“16 hours a day, with some cats sleeping even more depending on their age and lifestyle.

But here's the important part: knowing your cat's normal is key.

A cat who has always loved a good 16-hour nap is probably just being a cat. ๐Ÿ’ค But if your cat suddenly starts sleeping much more than usual, seems difficult to wake, isn't interested in food or play, or is hiding more than normal, it could be a sign that something isn't right.

๐Ÿพ The takeaway: It's not just how much your cat sleeps, it's whether their sleeping habits have changed.

You know your cat best. If something seems different, it's worth checking in with your veterinarian. โค๏ธ

๐ŸŽ’๐Ÿ“š Back to School Isn't Just an Adjustment for Kids, It's One for Cats, Too! ๐Ÿฑ

After a summer full of busy days, extra playtime, and family at home, the return to school can be a big change for your cat. Cats thrive on routine, and sudden changes in their daily schedule can leave them feeling stressed or anxious.

Here are a few ways to help your feline friend adjust:

๐Ÿพ Keep feeding times consistent, whenever possible.
๐Ÿพ Set aside dedicated playtime each day, even if it's just 10โ€“15 minutes.
๐Ÿพ Provide quiet, safe spaces where your cat can retreat when the house feels too empty or too busy.
๐Ÿพ Leave enrichment behind like puzzle feeders, window perches, or a favorite toy to keep them occupied while everyone is away.
๐Ÿพ Watch for signs of stress, such as hiding more than usual, changes in appetite, overgrooming, or litter box accidents.

A little preparation can go a long way in helping your cat feel secure as the household settles into a new routine. If you notice persistent behavior changes or have concerns about your cat's stress level, we're always here to help!

How does your cat react when the school year starts? Tell us in the comments! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿˆ

๐Ÿšจ Urinary Emergencies in Cats ๐Ÿšจ

Is your cat making frequent trips to the litter box? Straining to urinate? Crying out? Licking their urinary area more than usual?

โš ๏ธ Donโ€™t wait and see.

Urinary problems can range from inflammation and infection to urethral obstruction, a potentially life-threatening emergency, especially in male cats.

๐Ÿšจ Signs that need immediate veterinary attention:
๐Ÿพ Repeatedly entering the litter box with little or no urine produced
๐Ÿพ Straining or crying while trying to urinate
๐Ÿพ Blood in the urine
๐Ÿพ Excessive licking of the ge***al area
๐Ÿพ Urinating outside the litter box
๐Ÿพ Vomiting, hiding, weakness, or loss of appetite along with urinary signs

A completely blocked cat cannot pass urine, and their condition can deteriorate rapidly.

If your cat is repeatedly trying to urinate but producing little or no urine, treat it as an emergency. โค๏ธ

When it comes to urinary issues, itโ€™s always better to have your cat checked and find out itโ€™s something minor than to wait until it becomes critical.

๐Ÿˆ Your cat can't tell you something is wrong, but their litter box habits can.
