Happy $6 Senior Friday!

Rylie is back home recuperating from the vet yesterday. She is on medications to help and will need a recheck in two weeks. This little nugget is tough and has shown time and time again, the resilience of senior dogs. Also, thank you to those who donated yesterday, it makes such a difference and we appreciate you!

This has also been the first week of our new Pet Food & Supply Program and many families have already reached out asking for assistance. I am extremely grateful that we are able to serve as a resource for our community and we will continue fighting for those in need.

Rylie's foster reached out to me saying that she noticed that Rylie's a**l glands are swollen and red. She is also having some issues with going to the bathroom as a result. We are getting Rylie to the vet today at 2pm to get this little senior checked out and hopefully provide her with some much needed relief. We are also crossing our fingers and paws that this does not get any worse.

Vet bills are our largest expense and every time we think that we will be getting away with a relatively cheap visit, the final bill comes and it's at least a few hundred. If you would like to help little Rylie feel better, please consider donating. We love Rylie and she is Rush's other half. They are both 14yrs old and have spent their lives together. The need each other.

Our New Pet Food & Supply Program has kicked off, and we already have multiple signups! I am happy that we can be a resource for those in our community but at the same time, it saddens me knowing that so many out there are struggling right now. Pets are being surrendered every day because owners can no longer afford care and it's heart breaking all around.

I am beyond excited to announce that we are now accepting signups for our new Pet Food & Supply Program! This program was started with the goal of keeping families together. More and more pets are being surrendered simply because their owners have fallen on hard times and can no longer afford basic necessities such as pet food and other items associated with owning a pet. It's a terrible place to be, and I understand this on a personal level.

This is why I chose to launch this program so that we can do more. There are pet parents out there trying their very best each day to make ends meet but cannot do it alone. This is where we aim to come in, to be a buffer. We can offer food and other supplies pending availability to help those in need focus on other bills until they can get back on their feet. No judgement, we want to help. We offer delivery as well within the Houston and surrounding areas because we know that not everyone is able to get to a donation site.

$6 Senior Friday!

Funding has continued to be up and down this year. I am not surprised given the current state of the economy which has left many people struggling. But we are still here, fighting to help these dogs in need. Rescue is hard. Senior rescue is hard. Special needs rescue is hard. Hospice rescue is hard. But it's even more difficult without the necessary funding. Raven's long-standing debt is gone, thank goodness, but vet bills continue to be a killer.

Any amount you are able to give is greatly appreciated because it helps dogs in need. We cannot do this without our community!

I've said it once and I will probably say it 1,000 more time, we NEED FOSTERS! Short term, long term, we need fosters. The surrender requests are daily! Small dogs, big dogs, special needs dogs, bonded pairs, etc. These are dogs with nowhere else to go and we cannot help them because we simply do not have any available foster homes. Dogs currently sitting in shelters, dogs on the street, dogs whose owners are about to send them to the shelter. It does not end, ever!

We ask that you be in or near the Houston area. We have food, supplies, we cover vet care, we have volunteers to help with transport and more. We just need you to provide the love, attention, and safe space. Senior and special needs dogs matter too. They deserve a chance so please, help us, help them.

Petfinder is once again down but please meet Exodus! This adorable puppy came to us after being picked up as a stray by his current foster dad. He is the most adorable, sweet boy who is good with people, dogs, and cats! He has had some seizures in the past but lately, he has been doing well!

Bio!
Exodus is a velcro companion, where you go, he'll go. He'll check every ingredient in the kitchen to make sure it's still fresh and will gladly help with any trimmings or leftovers. He LOVES the bathtub! He makes sure you won't slip and fall and always test the water to make sure it's the right temp. Won't go on your furniture unless you take him there, but he likes to sunbathe in the carpet.

Likes going on walks, is a puller but won't overpower you. He is a bit protective especially in the first times you both go out, but eventually he'll mellow out. Likes other dogs but is a pushover so cats might also have an easy time with him. He will let you know when he wants scratches and belly rubs. He is house broken, and he knows how to use a pad if he needs to. If no pads are available, the bathtub works for him too!

He's trained to "go" once a day and will be very vocal about his needs (Prefers mornings) and bring a roll of baggies with you. Seriously it's a 3-bag average, not per but in total. Exodus does ok during car rides but is anxious. He jumps from seat to seat, sometimes he'll think he's a better driver than you and will try to step in on occasion. Likes squeaky toys, but only to hold not to chew, and you can trigger play mode by patting his under chin a couple of times.
Doesn't like being alone but his anxiety supplements help alot.

He's very well behaved but might have an interest in your shoes. He might have been framed by one of his roommates though. All in all, Exodus has come a long way for a loving home. He will be your most loving and loyal friend and will make his best days the days he spends with you.

We are still looking for more fosters! Every day, we are receiving requests for surrender, requests for assistance, requests for transfers from shelters but we can't help without fosters. There is a foster shortage with no signs of stopping. We feel it, and innocent souls are suffering because of it, until something changes. We need fosters! Long term and short term fosters willing to foster senior, special needs, and dogs in hospice.

We provide the support, you provide the attention, time, and security these dogs so desperately need and deserve! Please see our foster application below and if you cannot foster, share this with that animal lover in your life and help us, help them!
