Calling all Belgian Malinois lovers. Meet Venus. She has been at our shelter for just over a year now, waiting for the PERFECT family.

Venus is truly an amazing girl. She can do anything she puts her mind to and is so smart! She is a typical Velcro dog who loves all the attention and love.

She loves playing fetch and absolutely loves playing in her baby pool during the warm months! She is a great hiking buddy, but also loves her cuddle time.

She is roughly 2 year old, spayed, vaccinated, HW/Lyme negative and microchipped.

She would make a fantastic working dog or family dog.

She can be dog selective at times, so a meet is required, we believe with consistent socialization she would be fine with all other dogs as she has made many doggy friends here at the shelter! From what we have seen cats are a no as she likes to chase.

Job Title - Kennel Staff (Part-Time)

Description: Certified Animal Control Officer needed to cover after hours callouts and / or 15-20 weekly hours in office/shelter.

Requirements:
🐾Must posses and maintain a valid driver's license with good driving record.
🐾Must posses a valid NJ Animal Control Certification.
🐾Must posses and maintain clear criminal background record.
🐾Knowledge of and ability to humanely handle domestic, exotic, and wild animals.
🐾Knowledge of the types of equipment used in animal control.
🐾Will be required to occasionally work weeknights, weekends and holidays.
🐾Interact with and educate the public on the responsibility of companion animal ownership, explaining provisions of NJ state and local laws and ordinances.
🐾Cleans, cares and maintains kennels, runs, cages, crates of animals under his/or her care.
🐾Must be able to lift or move 50lbs.

UPDATE: 7/13 it is with broken hearts that we report that we received a phone call this morning that Simone was found deceased over 2 miles from her home. We brought her to the vet and it appears to be from trauma, most likely being hit by a car. This is not the outcome we had hoped for and we are all devastated. Please send prayers and respect her family during this difficult time. Rest in sweet peace beautiful girl 💔

MISSING in Sparta NJ.

Area of East Shore Trail, Helen Morgan School, Winona Parkway

Simone escaped a secure backyard when a contractor left the gate open. She is currently running scared.

Unfortunately, many well meaning people have shown up in the area. Some have been following (chasing) her in a car trying to see where she's going. Others have tried to grab her from their car. This went on well into the morning hours last night.

We currently have a trap set for her but with being so frightened yesterday by so many people and cars, we believe she has moved to a new area. We are awaiting a sighting to find out where she may be now.

We are asking that if you see her. Please call the number on the poster immediately with the time, location and direction of travel. Please just ignore her if you see her.

If we can make her feel secure, then she will stick to an area and give us a chance to capture her in the trap.
