Twice the Joy ~

This woman came in the other day looking for and finding her favorite kitten. She filled out all the necessary paper work, and was all set to pose with Grace.

As staff was getting her take-home bag getting ready, she went back into the kitten room to just visit some more.

She came back out and stated, “I want to adopt Stella, too!” (Pictured here).

Congratulations on your new kittens. May they bring you years of happiness.

Your Maine Concern ~

This beautiful kitten just arrived in our kennels today. He is about 3 months old and is very sweet. He has some of the characteristics of a Maine C**n.

He was fostered for a month, during which, he was given all his kitten shots, a microchip, and was neutered. Also, during his foster-month, Woody got lots of love and attention.

As Woody is just brand new to the Kitten Room, he has taken up hiding. And since there isn’t anything behind which to hide, you’ll see that he flattens his body down.

But if you are patient, and really want to give Woody a chance, then sit with him and rub his tummy. His purr will start right up. And if you’re lucky, he’ll turn belly-up right before your eyes.

Look No Further ~

Our Pet Friends Spay-Neuter Clinic receives animals for alteration from our own San Benito County in addition to animals from nearby counties. This partial list includes but is not limited to -

Santa Clara County
Alameda County
Stanislaus County
Contra Costa County
Santa Cruz County
Monterey County

A recent example of an out-of-county appointment is a Bay Area rescue that - after looking for a low cost clinic - needed to get 18 puppies and 2 mamas fixed for adoption very soon. Their search ended after they found us online. A call was made as they inquired with our staff if we could accommodate a large set of animals and so quickly. We said yes.

Our staff handled the volume of dogs quite well, as you’ll see in the attached photos. See the clinic staff at work.

The rescue was very satisfied with their dogs who are now newly altered and ready for adoption!

Fine and - - -

Dandy is an affectionate brown tabby, with the dandiest cinnamon roll swirls on his sides.

He was found small, emaciated, and understandably very scared. During the first month of his life 🤒 he battled some health 😷 issues, but with some TLC 💕 has become so much better.

Dandy is a little shy, ☺️ and still is coming out of his shell. 🐚 After some reassurance and gentle petting, Dandy purrs and makes biscuits non-stop. He’s so good at kneading, 🍞 that he can do it in the air! 💨

He likes being around people he trusts, and would do well in a quiet home with people who have the time 🕰️ and willingness to build his confidence 💪🏼 along with another friendly/social cat in the home. 🏡

Kitty Heaven ~

Lauren and Ben, two kittens from different worlds, and each from a different feral mama, were adopted in to the same home by this lovely lady.

She met them when one of them was still too small for neuter, so she waited. She returned several times to visit with her kittens.

After a fairly long application-to-take-home adoption window, she got to take them home!

Dusty has been fostered for about 6 weeks while she was being vetted and while the kitten 🐈‍⬛ population in our Kitten Room diminished (lots of adoptions in July and August). She will make her grand entrance in the Kitten room on Sunday, August 31st.

Dusty’s profile can be read on Pet Finder. It’s a great site to just see what’s out there, to find different breeds of dogs, kittens who get along with dogs, etc. You just might be surprised at who you meet online in the animal world.

Know Your ABCs ….

Calico is one of the three most desired adopted rescue cats there is. And Annie the Calico Kitten is no exception!

This lovely woman came in to our Kitten Room, and some time later, came out smiling. We’re always curious what kitten’s name will be written on the line of the Feline Adoption Application.

Annie will live with her new family in Hollister.

Adoption Mews ~

No, that’s not a typo. It’s real news happening here at Pet Friends.

Sandy, this gorgeous, orange cat was transferred from our local shelter about 10 days ago. She also came with her two kittens, who are thriving in our Kitten Room. 

Sandy adjusted to her surroundings in the Teen Room very easily, and became quite the charmer as visitors and volunteers came in to see our felines. This couple caught her magic and the rest is history.

This trio will live in Hollister along with their other kitten.
