PSA! PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: RATTLESNAKE SEASON IS HERE 🐍
We are already seeing an unusually high number of rattlesnake bites this early in the season, more than we’ve seen in the past two years combined.
⚠️ Even more concerning:
This year, we are encountering a new pattern of envenomation in our area. While our local Pacific rattlesnake typically causes tissue damage and swelling, we are now seeing cases with neurologic symptoms, including weakness and even paralysis in affected pets.
🐾 What this means for pet owners:
Please be extremely vigilant when letting your dogs or cats outside—especially during early morning, evening, and in brushy or rural areas.
✅ We strongly recommend:
* Snake aversion training for pets in high-risk areas
* Keeping pets leashed or supervised when outdoors
* Clearing yards of brush, woodpiles, and rodent activity
🚨 If your pet is bitten:
* GO IMMEDIATELY to a veterinary clinic
* DO NOT give any medications at home
* Call us while you are on the way so we can prepare for your arrival
⏳ Time is critical—early treatment can be life-saving.
We are here for you and your pets. Please share this message with your neighbors and community to help keep our animals safe.
