Paws4Survival Rescue Inc. Paws4Survival Rescue Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of Puerto Rico street dogs.

Paws4Survival is a nonprofit (501c3) organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of Puerto Rico street dogs. We provide veterinary care, shelter, and socialization in a daycare facility to prepare these dogs for adoption in the New York and New England area. Our strategic plan focuses on the town of Arroyo in the Southeastern part of the island, however we always help with pleas from l

ocal rescuers. Within Arroyo, there are two beach areas, Playa Chiropolis and Malecon in which we work to keep the dogs safe from animal control. Our volunteers provide basic shelter, food and water and care is provided until an opening in our program is available. Dogs that are not candidates for our program are captured for spay/neuter and returned to the beach to live under our care.

Meet Leo! šŸ¾

This 4-year-old, 52-lb sweet boy spent years in a shelter in the Bahamas, but he is officially ready to find his forever home!

Leo has a unique, adorable little hop when he walks! The vet thinks itā€™s congenitalā€”his shoulders donā€™t move separately and his hips are a bit stiffā€”but absolutely nothing slows this boy down. He loves being outside, and going on walks (or hops!) is his absolute favorite thing. He happily does about a half-mile at a time, letting you know when heā€™s ready for a quick rest.

He has the happiest, sweetest soul. He is incredibly friendly with all people, adores other dogs, and loves cats (and the feeling is mutual! šŸ±).

Since heā€™s still learning how to live in a house, he acts a bit like a big puppy, exploring the world with his mouth. He is incredibly food-motivated (he thinks everything is a snack!), so keeping counters clear and remotes in drawers is key.

Leo comes when called and quite literally sleeps with a smile on his face. He is pure joy in canine form. šŸ„¹

Meet Andy!

Andy is a 1 year old sweet, silly, long-legged boy who takes just a minute to warm up to new people. Because he can be a little nervous at initial meet-and-greets, he sometimes gets overlookedā€”but once he knows you, he is pure sweetness!

Why we love Andy:
* He loves playing with other dogs but is totally independent enough to throw his own toys around and entertain himself.
* Heā€™s an amazing snuggler, but not overly clingy.
* Heā€™s dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and kid-friendly!
* Heā€™s kennel and potty trained.

Since heā€™s a young guy with big paws, heā€™s still learning not to jump or paw for attention. Heā€™d love a home (ideally with older kids due to his size and goofy energy) ready to continue his basic training.

Heā€™s been in foster care for over 5 months. Will you take the chance and open your home to him?

Beautiful Helena is the final pup left from her litter of 7. Sheā€™s been thriving in foster care for over two months, but she is so ready for a family of her own.

She has a massive team cheering her on! Her journey started with the incredible women who rescued her and her siblings off the streets of Puerto Rico. Since then, sheā€™s been loved by a wonderful PR foster mom, escorted to Boston by an amazing flight angel, and is now being pampered by her current foster family in New Hampshire. Backed by an entire volunteer-based organization, sheā€™s fully supported and ready for her next chapter!

She just needs one person to see her.

This 4-month-old pup is kennel-trained, dog-friendly, and loves people. She is very independent and enjoys spending time in the backyard, where she will quietly entertain herself all day if given the chance

Six years after losing their sweet Izzy, the Grimes familyā€™s hearts were finally ready to open up again. šŸ„¹

When they saw Ang, it was instant loveā€”that sweet patch around her eye and those beautiful markings had her new mom, Peg, head over heels before they even met in person. Frederick has been up from Texas for two weeks now with only one application that backed out due to a familyā€™s emergency :(. Frederick is a 3 month old boxer mix puppy that is about 11 pounds.

He loves dogs of all sizes from
a Giant Schnauzer mix to a 6 pound blind and deaf doxie/chi mix. He is oblivious to cats and chickens and working hard on house-training, always using pads inside.

Frederick loves toys, running around outside but also enjoys Netflix afternoons and will cuddle
for hours. He particularly enjoys the series Worst Ex Ever. šŸ¤Ŗ

Frederick is a great puppy and ready for his forever family. Letā€™s help him find that ā¤ļø

The ultimate island duo. šŸ‡µšŸ‡·šŸ¾āœØ

Meet Ava and Tommy Two Tones. Both were rescued from Puerto Rico by Save a Sato and adopted through Paws, but their connection goes way deeper than a shared homeland.

Tommy is a CH cat. Because his condition was misunderstood, he was on a euthanasia list before we stepped in. But CH isnā€™t painful or progressiveā€”it just means he dances to his own beat.

The best part? Ava has never seen Tommy as ā€œdifferent.ā€ She doesnā€™t see a neurological condition; she just sees her brother and best friend. They look out for each other, proving that animals donā€™t see disabilitiesā€”they just see family. šŸ¤

This face! Years in a shelter , a senior black dog with a slight heart condition stands no chance in Puerto Rico!

We thought, and thought and about 1 year ago to the day savingsageanimalrescue and wingsofrescue_official started helping us fly our babies and we have been holding on for dear life since :) in an amazing way.

Today John and Vicki stopped over to southcoastalah for their yearly flea, tick and heartworm prevention supply. The same place where head vet tech Erica showed him her picture before arrival, the instant love when they met, the way John gently removed her collar and placed his last dogs harness on Vicki with ease. All perfect, so meant to be, why we continue to do what we do.

Happy one year John and Vicki šŸ˜šŸ˜ This is what keeps us going
