🪨🐶 Bladder Stones in Dogs – What You Need to Know!🐾

Did you know dogs can get bladder stones, just like humans? These rock-like formations develop in the bladder and can cause pain, trouble urinating, and even serious infections.

🚨 Common Signs Your Dog May Have Bladder Stones:
• Straining or frequent attempts to urinate
• Blood in urine
• Accidents in the house
• Licking at the urinary opening
• Discomfort or whining when peeing

👩‍⚕️ Diagnosis & Treatment:
Bladder stones are diagnosed through X-rays or ultrasound. Depending on the size and type, they may be:
✅ Dissolved with a special prescription diet
✅ Surgically removed
✅ Flushed out through a procedure called urohydropropulsion

💡 Prevention Tips:
• Make sure your dog stays hydrated
• Feed a balanced diet — some dogs need prescription food
• Schedule regular vet checkups

If your dog/cat is showing urinary signs, don’t wait — bladder stones can block urine flow and become a medical emergency! 🏥

🐾 What’s a Cuterebra?!🐾

Today, we had an interesting case in the clinic—a pet came in with a Cuterebra(yep, it’s as strange as it sounds!).

What is a Cuterebra?
A Cuterebra is the larva (or "botfly") that can infest pets, especially curious cats and dogs that spend time outdoors. These larvae can burrow under the skin and create a swelling—often mistaken for a cyst or abscess. In the center, you’ll usually spot a small hole: that’s how the larva breathes! 😬

🩺 What to Watch For:

* Swelling under the skin
* A small breathing hole in the center
* Your pet excessively licking or scratching one area
* Sudden swelling that doesn’t seem to bother your pet much

‼️ Important:Never try to squeeze it out yourself! Improper removal can cause severe reactions or infections. Always have it removed by a veterinarian.

Today’s patient is doing great after safe removal and a little TLC from our team! ❤️

Keep an eye on your pets this summer—especially those outdoor adventurers. If you notice anything unusual, we’re here to help!

🐾 Why We Don't Recommend Googling Your Pet’s Symptoms 🐾

We get it — when your pet isn’t acting like themselves, your first instinct might be to hop online for answers. But here’s why that might do more harm than good:

🔍 Misinformation is everywhere
Not all online advice is accurate. Some sources are outdated, incomplete, or even dangerous.

⏱️ Time matters
Googling can waste valuable time — especially in emergencies when immediate care is critical.

🐶 Every pet is different
What’s minor for one animal could be serious for another. Online info can’t take your pet’s unique needs into account.

👩‍⚕️ Your vet knows best
We know your pet’s history and can offer safe, tailored advice that no search engine can match.

📞 When in doubt, call us
A quick phone call could save you time, reduce stress, and help your pet feel better — faster.
