B&T Updates!
🐾
Dolly started working on the prong collar today! She’s doing great and really catching on. So far we have practiced sit and down with the collar. Usually if a dog struggles with one of these it’s down…she caught on to down very quickly! She’s a little confused with sit still. She’s not sure if it means to sit or spin in a circle 😅 but she is catching on and doing great!

B&T Updates!
🐾
Poppy is rocking it! Here’s a pic from yesterday (because I forgot to get one today but wanted to make my post now 😅) she was investigating a caterpillar which made for a perfect chance to practice the out command! She’s got five commands on the ecollar so far and she’s doing really great. She loves to work which is so cute! The only command so far that she’s testing boundaries with is recall which makes sense because she has struggled with one for a while before coming here, but each lesson she makes progress!

Koda was back for his last Puppy Program lesson today!
🐾
His parents have been working so hard with him the last 10 weeks (he got two packs of lessons) and today he had a successful nail trim! He got a little squirmy once or twice but didn’t have a complete meltdown and recovered quickly! I was able to clip each of his nails. His parents have been working really hard at home getting him used to the handling needed for nail trims and their hard work is paying off. It was a night and day difference from his first nail trim!
🐾
I have trimmed COUNTLESS puppies nails and with my methods 90% of the time they are comfortable with their nails being trimmed by the end of the first session. 9% of the time it takes them another nail trim session before they warm up to it…..Koda is the 1%, nail trims (and ANY form of handling he wasn’t in the mood for) was a very big trigger for him and he would fight and get nasty. Through my methods and his parents dedication to his training he really made amazing progress! I’ll get to see him back for a Board & Train and we will continue to work on this (as well as all the normal things for B&Ts while he is here.) I’m so excited to get to continue to work with him to help him be the best version of himself!

Ellie was back for her last Puppy Program lesson yesterday!
🐾
This sweet girl has gotten so big! It’s been a few weeks since I last saw her because she had some health stuff come up but she’s feeling all better now! Since it has been a while, we reviewed all of the things and talked about making sure to keep her on track with her training to set her up for success to be her best self!

Koda was back for Puppy Program yesterday, this boy has gotten huge! He is on his fourth lesson of his second pack of Puppy Lessons because his family wanted to continue Puppy Lessons leading up to his Board & Train!
🐾
Yesterday we reviewed videos of his interactions with other dogs. Overall he did really great, we talked about a few things his parents could do to advocate for him as well as help teach him appropriate ways to interact with other dogs. We also did some work with muzzle conditioning, his parents started this at home and have done a phenomenal job with it already! Each week Koda is making progress, so proud of him and his family!

Meet Poppy!
🐾
This gorgeous girl got here today for her Three Week Board & Train! If you saw my last post you’ll know she is Percy’s older sister. I’m very excited to work with Poppy as her last trainer said she has “goldfish brain” … however in the very short time I’ve known her I can tell she is very smart and will be a lot of fun to work with!
🐾
The main goal for Poppy is reliable obedience commands, specifically recall and out. There have been some dangerous snakes in Poppy’s yard and around their neighborhood so it’s important she can listen to commands reliably in all situations to keep her safe! In addition to the snakes in the yard, she also likes to eat moss and other items so all around training will make outside time safer and more enjoyable!
🐾
Other goals for Poppy include keeping four on the floor (no jumping), working on some attention seeking behaviors and just general manners. I’m so excited to work with her over the next few weeks, I know she’s going to be a lot of fun!

Boarding Availability- Closed for Boarding, Training and Lessons September 17th - September 23rd
🐾
Those who know me know I rarely have a day off and rarely go on vacation. As the business continues to grow I’m reminded each year that working without a break is not realistic or sustainable. I hate to be unavailable for boarding clients because I want my RKDT pups to be with me when their owners are away. That said, I’ve got to start taking some breaks here and there so this will be my first attempt at a break like this!
🐾
If you are in need of Boarding during this time and want some recommendations from me on how to set your pup up for success with a pet sitter please reach out for advice! I want my RKDT graduates to be happy and stress free if they need care while I’m unavailable! For last minute emergency situations I may be here and may be able to help on a case by case basis, however while the plan is for this to be a staycation I may not be home/available.
