What an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day for an adventure!

Today, our seniors traveled to the UK Robinson Center in Jackson, and what a wonderful day it was!

We got to put our skills to work making cutting boards at the Wood Utilization Center! We also enjoyed farm rides around the UK Agriculture area, taking in the beautiful scenery and learning along the way!

We heard about the incredible comeback following the devastating 2022 flood and learned about several interesting agricultural topics, including hops and h**p! Don’t worry, no samples were available!

After all that learning and hard work, we headed to Sazon in Jackson for a delicious meal! We even got to celebrate Mona with a birthday song! 🎉🎂

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect, the company was even better, and there were plenty of laughs along the way!

A HUGE thank you to everyone at UK for welcoming us, sharing their knowledge, and making this such an enjoyable experience!

Thanks to Marvin for coming down and driving us, and Paul and Dwight for always belong get us where we need to be!

I’m so thankful that so many of our seniors were able to join us today! Days like this are exactly why we love getting out and trying new things. Making memories, learning something new, and enjoying each other’s company is what it’s all about! ❤️

Carolyn Eldridge Coots Hamblin, age 82, of Hazard, KY, passed Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Hazard ARH. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and spending time with the grandkids. Carolyn was a member of the Church of The Lord Jesus Christ at Brownsfork. She loved talking with others, which included her friends at the senior center, where she really enjoyed the crafts.

She was the Daughter of the late Ira Eldridge and Rosa Lee Wells Eldridge. She was also preceded in death by her First Husband: Lester Coots.

She is survived by: Husband: Donnie Hamblin; One Son: Cleveland Coots (Lezlie); Four Grandchildren: Parker Coots; Tiffany Haynes (Lucas), Emma Faith Coots & Hannah Combs (Danny); Seven Great-Grandchildren: Mia, Ozzy, Lochlan, Sophia, Damian, Alex & Maddie, as well as A Host of Siblings, Other Family & Friends.

Arrangements are being handled by Maggard's Mtn. View Chapel in Hazard, KY, where the family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Friday, November 6, 2026. Funeral service will be at Maggard's Mtn. View Chapel at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 6, 2026, Melvin Keith Hamblin officiating. Interment will be at Coots Family Cemetery, Viper, KY

A Busy Day Full of Fun, Friendship, and Giving Back!

We had another busy but wonderful day at the Hazard Perry Senior Center!

Today, some of our friends from the Breathitt County Senior Center came to join us as we officially wrapped up our Sock Challenge! 🧦🏆

Breathitt took home the WIN and earned themselves our funny little Sock Trophy! It may not be the fanciest trophy around, but it sure made for some fun and friendly competition!

The best part was getting to come together and deliver all the socks we collected to the Hospice Center! What started as a little friendly competition turned into something meaningful that will help others, and that’s what it’s all about!

Our Breathitt friends also surprised us with gifts and even hosted a round of Bingo! It was such a thoughtful gesture, and we truly enjoyed having them spend the day with us!

It was also Music Day with Melanie! A special thank-you to Melanie for being so gracious and adjusting her schedule so we could fit everything in and still enjoy our music! We appreciate her so much!

We also squeezed in our Walmart trip today, along with getting everything prepared for tomorrow’s adventure to UK Agriculture and Robinson Forest!

It was definitely one of those days where we stayed on the move from beginning to end, but we wouldn’t have it any other way!

A big thank-you to our Breathitt County friends for coming to visit, for the sweet surprises, and for helping make today so enjoyable. The real winners of our Sock Challenge are the people who will benefit from everyone’s generosity!

Yesterday the seniors had an eventful day, with special music and WITS workout with Lori from Uk Extension, we appreciate them coming and singing for the seniors and they are loving Lori’s new program!

Today was a day that makes days at the Center hard, we lost one of our members and it breaks our hearts but we know without a doubt she is in a better place, and that she had no fear, because she knew she was heaven bound, she will be greatly missed, she came every time she could, prayers for her precious husband they loved each other so good, and her family and friends. We will share arrangements when those are available.

Tomorrow will be a busy day but fun day! Hope to see you in the morning!
