We are not endorsing this particular website. We would just like for people to know that there are research options available before getting a dog. Behaviors, energy levels, grooming needs, and healthcare concerns can often be consistent by breeds. For example, Doodles require grooming, and OFTEN! We've seen so many Doodles make it to the shelter that have not received the necessary grooming to the point it has cut off circulation to their limbs, resulting in amputation. If you consider getting a Doodle, you need to be committed to either taking them to a groomer every 6 weeks, or working with them from a young age, and learning how to be able to groom them at home. It's 100 percent a requirement when you bring them into your home. There is NO responsible way around it. If you are not committed to that, a Doodle is not the dog for you. If you believe you are likely going to live in an apartment your whole life, take into consideration the breeds that require active lifestyles. If you are not someone who is committed to providing the level of exercise needed, research low energy dogs for your lifestyle. There is no 100 percent guarantee, but researching dog breeds and considering their well-known characteristics before bringing them into your home, is responsible pet ownership. So often we have people wanting to surrender dogs because they are exactly what they are known to be. There are breed specific tendencies and they SHOULD be considered before choosing a dog. There should be no surprise when a Heeler heels, or when a Husky tries to escape every enclosure, or when German Shepherds and Pitties grow into big dogs. Hounds, though we believe to be some of the greatest of dogs 😁, can be very vocal, and might even counter surf. Beagles have noses that will lead them 3 counties away! Chihuahua's if not appropriately socialized can be the first dogs to take a good bite out of you.🙄😂 All breeds are wonderful in our opinion, but they are not suited for every home! Please do your homework before bringing a dog into your home, or don't be surprised when you get the exact kind of dog that you brought into your home. The work has been done for you. Just please research! There is information available at your fingertips.
