✨ Today’s : Hedgehog 🐾

Come meet one of our newer arrivals, Hedgehog — a total sweetheart who’s ready to make your holidays a whole lot brighter. He’s just 4 years old, about 21 lbs, and a Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix with the cutest little face and the gentlest vibe.

Even with that Jack Russell sparkle in his DNA, Hedgehog is surprisingly calm. He enjoys attention, but when the yard gets a little too chaotic, he’s happy to grab a shady spot and quietly supervise the fun. He’ll wander over for pets and volunteer check-ins, then go back to relaxing like the easygoing king he is. He’s perfect for someone who wants a companion who isn’t clingy — but is still affectionate and loving in all the right ways.

Hedgehog is big enough to enjoy nice walks and light hikes, but he doesn’t seem high-energy, so no marathon training required. He’s also pretty quiet, making him a great apartment dog or work-from-home buddy — loyal, low-drama, and always nearby. He does well with other dogs and could join a pack, but he’d be just as happy as your one-and-only sidekick. 💛

✨ Today’s : Bamboo 🐾

Come check out our newest arrival, Bamboo — and trust me, he does not disappoint. This sweet little guy just turned 5 years old, weighs only 14 lbs, and has that classic Shih Tzu charm that makes you want to scoop him up and never let go. He’s totally ready to settle into a cozy forever home.

Bamboo is another pup who ended up in a high-kill shelter and was at risk of euthanasia — a heartbreaking and way-too-common story right now. It’s honestly wild that a friendly, adorable Shih Tzu like him could be overlooked… but that’s the reality these days, even for “high-demand” breeds. Thankfully, Bamboo got his second chance.

When he first arrived at TBL, Bamboo was shy and a little nervous — but that didn’t last long. Now he’s happily meeting new volunteers and proudly living up to his breed’s reputation as a top-tier lap dog. He’d be perfect for anyone looking for a calm, gentle cuddle buddy as the weather cools down. Bamboo is doing great in a large playgroup, so he could join an existing pack, and he’d likely be fine with cats too. Of course, he’d also be perfectly happy as your one-and-only little shadow. 💛

✨ Today’s : Burton 🐾

Starting the week with a serious dose of cute — meet Burton! This 2-year-old Shih Tzu/Poodle mix is as friendly as he is adorable. At just 16 lbs, he’s the perfect little sidekick and is so ready to kick off the holiday season in a forever home.

Burton was rescued after he was scheduled for euthanasia at the shelter. He arrived matted and dirty, but after a well-deserved spa day, he’s looking downright handsome and feeling like a whole new dog. Even with everything he’s been through, Burton is nothing but sunshine — sweet, social, and great with other dogs. He came in with his brother (who’s already been adopted), so he’s used to having a canine buddy, but he’d be just as happy being your one-and-only.

Burton has a low-shedding coat that’ll need regular grooming, and he’s totally cool with being handled — because attention is basically his love language. Between that heart-melting face and his little low-rider body, it’s honestly hard to believe he hasn’t been scooped up yet. Burton is an optimist who knows the best part of his story is still ahead — and it starts with you. 💛

✨ Today’s : Yogurt 🐾

It’s hard to believe Yogurt is spending his second Thanksgiving at TBL — because this gorgeous golden retriever/Afghan hound mix is truly something special. He came to us from KSAR (Kabul Small Animal Rescue) in June 2024, just turned 4 years old, and is about 55 lbs of fluffy, cream-colored goodness.

When Yogurt first arrived in the U.S., he was completely terrified. He spent months in foster, and those early days he wouldn’t even step out of his crate if people were nearby. Fast forward to today and you’d never guess it’s the same dog — Yogurt is now a happy, goofy, affectionate boy who will absolutely remind you if you stop petting him too soon. He adores attention and bounces around the yard like the joyful, carefree boy he was always meant to be. Total character, totally charming.

Yogurt does wonderfully with other dogs — he shares his kennel, eats with friends, and happily greets volunteers in the play yard. He’d thrive with a family who will give him a little time to settle in, but he’s made huge strides and keeps getting braver every day. He’d love a yard to romp in, a canine buddy to hang with, and a home that’s ready for laughs, cuddles, and some future hikes once he’s acclimated. He should do great with older, respectful kids too.

Yogurt has waited long enough — who’s ready to give this sweet boy the home he’s been dreaming about? 💛🐶

✨ Today’s : Maitake 🐾

Come meet Maitake! This sweet little Cockapoo mix has been through way more than any dog should — but he’s bouncing back like a champ and ready to start his next chapter. He just turned 5 years old and is the perfect size at about 20 lbs.

When Maitake arrived, he was understandably shut down. After being abandoned by his family, he was matted, dirty, underweight, and then landed in a high-kill shelter, where he ended up on the euthanasia list after catching kennel cough. That’s a lot for anyone — especially a gentle, sensitive pup like him.

But here’s the good part: Maitake has rebounded beautifully. His loving personality is shining through more every day. He greets volunteers, seeks out pets, has had a fresh groom, and is already putting healthy weight back on. He’s basically a whole new dog — and he’s so ready for a bright future.

Maitake could fit into lots of homes, but he’d likely thrive in a calmer household. He’s still happy to go on nice walks or light hikes, and he could live with older, respectful kids. He gets along great with other dogs and would probably be fine with cats too. For everything he’s survived, Maitake is pure resilience — and pure love. 💛

✨ Today’s : Parasol 🐾'

If this face doesn’t make your day instantly better, we can’t help you! ☀️ Parasol is a 1-year-old, 15-lb pug (or maybe a little Frenchie magic mixed in 💕). She just arrived from Imperial Valley and already has everyone wrapped around her tiny paw.

Parasol is friendly with everyone—dogs, people, probably even your cat (we can test!). She’s the perfect mix of snuggle-bug and adventure buddy: small enough to scoop up and go, but sturdy enough for nice walks.

Quiet, sweet, social, and absolutely adorable—she’s the total package. Whoever adopts Parasol is going to wonder how they got so lucky! 🍀🐶

✨ Foster Friday Feature: Battery & Moth! 🐾💡

One of our amazing volunteers decided to take home two of her favorite littles for a short-term foster — and she chose Battery, a 7-month-old male terrier mix, and Moth, a 3-year-old male chihuahua/pug mix. Both boys are under 15lbs of pure charm.

Battery and Moth aren’t bonded, but they get along beautifully. If you’ve ever dreamed of adopting a perfectly compatible pair, these two are your guys — but they’re just as wonderful separately!

Their foster mom reports that both are housebroken, crate trained, good on leash, and absolute cuddle bugs. She took them to a family gathering where their feet barely touched the ground — they were happily passed from person to person soaking up all the love.

Moth is a toy enthusiast and plays a serious game of fetch.
Battery doesn’t fetch, but happily sprints alongside him to join the fun.
They’re both very dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and so polite they even share a food bowl. Honestly… they’re pretty close to perfect. They handled a full 1-hour hike like champs and are great in the car too.

These two little boys are truly plug-and-play pups — affectionate, portable, playful, and ready to brighten someone’s home. Could that be yours? 💛🐶

✨ Today’s : Houston 🐾

We have so many amazing dogs who get overlooked, and Houston is one of them — but she shouldn’t be. 💛 This fun-loving, happy little girl came to us from our partner rescue, Soi Dog in Thailand. She’s just 2 years old, about 28lbs, and a unique Shiba Inu/Thai Ridgeback mix and one of the cutest little girls you have ever seen.

You may notice Houston is a tripod — she lost her leg on the streets of Thailand — but trust us, she has absolutely no idea she’s missing anything. She’s agile, playful, zoomy, and full of life. And hey… fewer muddy paws to clean and one less paw that needs a nail trim. Win-win. 😉

Houston does wonderfully with other dogs, sharing both her kennel and her playgroup like a total pro. She’s affectionate, social, and the perfect size to fit in your lap but still join you on adventures. Even with three legs, she’d love to hit the trail for some light hiking.

This sweet, resilient girl is going to make one lucky family very, very happy. 💕

Good things really do come in small packages — and Blackend is 10 pounds of pure love wrapped in fur! 💛 This 4-year-old Chihuahua mix was rescued from an LA County shelter, where his tiny life was on the line. Now he’s ready to find the forever home he deserves!

Forget the Chihuahua stereotypes — Blackend is the social butterfly who missed that memo entirely. 🦋 He loves people, plays nicely with other dogs, and struts his stuff in group playtime. He’d look ridiculously cute in a little sweater, trotting by your side on neighborhood strolls.

Perfect for apartment life, great with other pups, and even smaller than most cats — this charming little gentleman just wants a soft lap and a happy heart to call home. 🐶💖

✨ Today’s : Manchego 🐾

Meet Manchego — the short king of the shepherd world! 👑 This 3-year-old, 45-lb shepherd/basset mix has the best of both breeds: big heart, goofy smile and stubby legs. 🐶💛

Manchego first came to TBL with his basset-mix siblings earlier this year. They all got adopted — and while Manchego’s family didn’t work out, he’s been patiently waiting for his real forever people. He started off shy, but with love and consistency he’s blossomed into a goofy, affectionate snugglebug who adores attention.

He’s sweet, silly, and loves to be part of the action — he just needs a home that gives him gentle structure and security. Manchego gets along great with other dogs, shares his space nicely, and would thrive in a home that enjoys walks and weekend hikes (short ones — those legs are basset length 😉).

Whoever gives this boy his second chance is going to hit the jackpot. 💫
