Today’s is Tilda. We have the perfect pittie right now at TBL. Check out Tilda. She is absolutely adorable. We just rescued her from an LA County shelter where she was about to be euthanized. She is just 5 years old and a petite 55lbs, she is actually pretty short but has a bulldog build.

Tilda was literally rescued on the way to the euthanasia room. The volunteer who pulled her saw her and couldn’t leave her to that fate. Tilda did need some care upon rescue. She had some skin issues and a respiratory infection so she spent some time in foster getting healthy. Her foster mother reported that she was very well behaved, housebroken and crate trained (although she didn’t think a crate is really necessary for her). Tilda is non-reactive, easy on a leash and good with other dogs. She is a sweet, calm dog.

Tilda is a bigger dog, but has such a mild disposition she is very easy to manage. She could live in an apartment with daily walks. She is at a lower energy level so she doesn’t need a lot of exercise. She is definitely the cuddly, coat potato version of the pittie. She seems to love everyone and she is very food motivated. She takes treats very gently. She also seems to have some basic training. She should be able to quickly fit into her household. We can’t believe this amazing girl was literally minutes from death. What a loss that would have been, we are so happy to be able to give her the opportunity to get the life she deserves.

If you can’t adopt Tilda, please share this post so that hopefully someone out there will be able to make a place for her in their family. If you are interested in checking out any of our other fantastic dogs please go to www.thebarkinglot.net. We are an all-breed rescue with many wonderful dogs to choose from.

Today’s is Birdwell! Are you looking for a sweet, calm, gentle dog who’s absolutely adorable and incredibly friendly? Meet Birdwell. He’s 8 years young, about 24 lbs, and a charming Schnauzer/Poodle mix. Birdwell just arrived at TBL last week from an LA County shelter, where he was at risk of being euthanized.

Birdwell is an amazing dog. Not only is he incredibly cute and great with humans, but he also gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He shares his kennel with two canine buddies and has no issues eating or taking treats around them. He has a calm, easygoing personality and quickly settled into the routine at TBL. While he’s a little older all that really means is he’d be a dream dog for a first-time pet owner. With his even temperament and relaxed demeanor he should blend easily in with his new family.

Birdwell has low exercise needs. He walks well on a leash and would enjoy casual strolls, but he’s not the hiking-or-jogging type. He’d be just as happy watching the kids play soccer or relaxing under the table at a dog-friendly café. He’s easy company — not overly needy, not skittish, just content to be part of your world. He’d make an excellent work-from-home buddy or be the perfect companion in retirement. This sweet boy deserves a soft landing as he enters his golden years — and he’s ready to bring peace, love, and quiet joy to a lucky family.

If you can’t adopt Birdwell, please share this post so that hopefully someone out there will be able to make a place for him in their family. Today’s is Pritzker. Were you thinking about how much you love the look of the cattle dog, but they are just too big and energetic. Well, checkout Pritzker, she looks just like one of the most beautiful cattle dogs you have ever seen and she is only 20lbs. She is just coming out of puppyhood at about a year old.

It is hard to look at Pritzker and not think, what a pretty dog. Her multi-colored, speckled coat is really something to see. She is a great size and terrific with other dogs. She is a little shy to start with people, but she warms up and is very sweet after you give her a couple of minutes. She is still young and there is every reason to believe that her cattle dog heritage should make her very trainable. She should do great as a hiking or jogging dog.

Pritzker would do well in a fairly active household. Even though she is a cattle dog mix her energy seems more at the medium, or medium plus level, and not over-the-top like a lot of cattle dogs. She would be great with another dog in the house, especially since she is a little shy, so another dog showing her the ropes would be helpful, but she would be fine on her own. She is a really unique little dog and should make her new family very happy.

If you can’t adopt Pritzker, please share this post so that hopefully someone out there will be able to make a place for her in their family. If you are interested in checking out any of our other fantastic dogs please go to www.thebarkinglot.net. We are an all-breed rescue with many wonderful dogs to choose from.

Today’s is Messina. You may remember Messina from the slew of posts we made right after we rescued her and her two puppies. Well, both of her puppies have been adopted, and now Messina is patiently waiting for her turn. She’s just 2 years old, weighs about 23 lbs, and is a Jack Russell/Beagle mix.

We pulled Messina from the shelter just before she was scheduled to be euthanized—along with her two nursing puppies—simply because she had kennel cough (though her puppies were healthy). Messina went straight into foster care to recover and ensure her pups had the best environment to grow up in. Thankfully, she made a full recovery and was an excellent mom to her two babies.

Now that her puppies are in loving homes, it’s Messina’s turn. She’s an entertaining, energetic pup, and if you’re looking for a portable adventure buddy, she definitely fits the bill.

Messina gets along great with other dogs and loves to play. She’d be fine joining an existing pack or could thrive as an only dog—as long as she gets an outlet for her energy. Despite her smaller size, she’d make a great jogging buddy or hiking companion. Once she learns recall, she’ll have a blast running on the beach. She’d probably enjoy having active children in her life too.

She’s got that classic Beagle/Jack Russell spark, which adds up to a dog with a really fun personality.

If you can’t adopt Messina, please share this post so that hopefully someone out there will be able to make a place for her in their family. If you are interested in checking out any of our other fantastic dogs please go to www.thebarkinglot.net. We are an all-breed rescue with many wonderful dogs to choose from.

Today’s is Mojarra. We are trying something different with Mojarra. A little AI enhancement to hopefully draw some attention (please comment about whether you like this or not). Black dogs often have the hardest time getting adopted, and it's a mystery why—especially when they’re as amazing and adorable as Mojarra. She is about eight months old and should end up at about 30lbs. She is a terrier/lab mix.

Mojarra is the last of her litter still at TBL—not because there’s anything wrong with her. Sometimes, one puppy just draws the short straw. She is extremely social with other dogs, and very friendly with people. She has an adorable, scruffy face and a happy, energetic disposition. She has lanky build, but she will probably fill out when she finishes growing. She should be a great adventure buddy.

Mojarra could thrive in almost any environment. She is still puppy, so she will need training to be the best version of herself. She would be a great addition to an active family and probably have a blast playing with kids. She would do great with another playful dog, but could be an only dog. She has always kenneled with other dogs and is in a very large playgroup. She has so much fun wrestling with her buddies, so even if she doesn’t have another dog in the home, hopefully she can get some canine buddies to hang out with.

If you can’t adopt Mojarra, please share this post so that hopefully someone out there will be able to make a place for her in their family. Today’s is XRay. Looking for a pint-sized partner-in-crime to follow you around and steal hearts everywhere she goes? Meet XRay — scruffy-faced and fun-sized. At just 8 lbs of cuteness, XRay is giving off total Brussels Griffon/Schnauzer vibes — just look at that expressive little face! She's 2 years young, full of pep, and officially on the lookout for her forever adventure buddy.

XRay was recently rescued for an LA County shelter and we are continuously astounded at the amazing dogs that end up in need of rescue of facing euthanasia. We are certain that there is someone who is going to be very grateful that we pulled little XRay and that they are going to enjoy a lifetime of antics with this little girl.

XRay is a pretty active little dog. She is in a pretty large play group and does great with all of her little friends, including eating and sharing toys. She is friendly and when very quick to greet all visitors in her play yard. She is very portable at just 8lbs so she can go anywhere with you. She has a goofy and fun personality and it going to be a great addition to any family. She can live with other dogs or be an only dog. She would be fine for an apartment since, with her small size, she has low exercise requirements.

If you can’t adopt XRay, please share this post so that hopefully someone out there will be able to make a place for her in their family. Today’s is Snax. Where are all the pit bull lovers out there? Because you need to meet Snax. This handsome boy was just 30 minutes away from being euthanized when we pulled him from the LA County shelter. It’s heartbreaking to think that this happy pup—with his cheerful personality and “every day is the best day ever” attitude—came so close to losing his life. He’s only 10 months old and he’s ready to meet his forever family.

Snax is all about fun. He’s in a large playgroup and spends his play yard time wrestling with all of them. Thankfully, his group is full of pups with a similar mindset, so there’s always someone up for a romp. He’s great with people too, but make no mistake—this boy lives to party. For Snax, partying means running, wrestling, and just living his best life. And honestly? It’s a joy to watch. Snax seems to be respectful of other dogs’ boundaries. If one of his friends signals that they need a break, Snax gets the message and backs off. He also likes to swing by the humans for a quick check-in—especially if someone’s offering an ear scratch.

Snax’s ideal home would probably be with another active, playful dog and preferably a yard to run around in. He’s been on hikes with volunteers and did great—he’s actually pretty good on a leash! With his energy level and enthusiasm, he’d probably love being a jogging buddy too. At just 10 months old, he’s primed for training and will thrive with positive reinforcement. It’s hard to believe that a dog this full of life was so close to death—because every ounce of him radiates joy.

If you can’t adopt Snax, please share this post so that hopefully someone out there will be able to make a place for him in their family. Today’s is Tango. Are you thinking, “I’d love to get a new dog, and I just hope I can find one with giant ears”? Well, check out Tango. He definitely excels in the ear department—but trust me, that’s not his only strength. Tango is just coming out of puppyhood at 11 months old and weighs about 43 lbs. He’s a Cattle Dog/Malinois mix.

Tango is one of those dogs who is simply happy to be. He loves being a dog. He loves playing with other dogs. He loves people. He loves playing with people. He loves running around, getting pets, and eating treats. Basically, from his perspective, life is always good.

Tango is an active, intelligent dog and is going to be a lot of fun to train. I spent a couple of minutes working with him on “sit” for a treat, and not only did he get it right away—when I showed him the next treat, he immediately sat down. He’s going to be one of those dogs who could learn hundreds of commands.

Tango is high-energy and will need a good outlet. He’d make a great jogging partner and would be an excellent hiking buddy. He does great with other dogs and kennels with another dog without any issues. He’d be a great fit for kids who want a dog to run around and roughhouse with. He could join an existing pack or be your one and only. If you’re looking for an adventure buddy, Tango is going to be a fantastic match.

If you can’t adopt Tango, please share this post so that hopefully someone out there will be able to make a place for him in their family. Today’s is Charlie. If looking at Charlie’s smiling face didn’t just make your day better than I don’t know what will. We recently rescued Charlie from an LA county shelter. Charlie just turned 3 years old and she is a chunky little Chiweenie of about 24lbs.

I’ll be honest—usually the hardest part of writing these posts is finding 10 decent photos that’ll catch people’s attention. With Charlie? The struggle was real, but for the opposite reason. She’s a natural. The camera loves her. That big grin? She's basically a four-legged supermodel. Narrowing it down to 10 pics was challenging This girl radiates happiness like it’s her job—and she’s looking for a permanent position in someone’s life.

Charlie’s the kind of pup who’ll climb into your lap the moment you sit down, but she’s no diva. If you’re busy, she’s happy to entertain herself with a toy or make friends with the nearest four-legger. She’s incredibly social, gets along well with other dogs, and could slide right into an existing pack without missing a beat. And with her "I love everyone!" outlook on life, we suspect she’d do just fine with cats too. Charlie is low-maintenance on the exercise front, so she would be fine for an apartment.

If you can’t adopt Charlie, please share this post so that hopefully someone out there will be able to make a place for her in their family.
