Today was a wow day! One I did not anticipate having for a much longer time. We have our first (pending) permanent champion!

Ca Blackberry’s IZ U That Girl earned her final leg!

I am so thankful to the many people that have contributed to this achievement. My family, my husband (he gets a special shout out for putting up with my endless goat obsession), my friend and mentor Holli Westfaul, and That Girl’s breeder Thanh and Elizabeth Duong. I could go on and on but I will just wrap it up and say I am so thankful to each and every one of you! This was a team effort. Thank you!!!!

This past weekend, Avery and I attended the Arizona Memorial Day Goat show. I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun in 100° heat, but it was a blast! I am so thankful for my husband‘s support. He stayed behind to make sure everything at home was taken care of and the chore help went smoothly.
I am also very thankful to Holli of HJ Summit Farms for all of her help, guidance and handling of my goats. Without her guidance, my herd would not be where it is today and where it is headed in the future. Now without further ado the results as best as I can remember.

De Lagos Teavanna
received multiple first and second place awards and was awarded 🏆 Reserve Grand Champion under Kris Farley.

Ca Blackberry’s IZ U That Girl
was only shown on day two and was first in both rings. She was awarded 🏆 Reserve Grand Champion under Don Bergfield and 🏆 Grand Champion under Paula Reisdorff. This is her second leg leaving her with one final leg to finish.

Clauson Pty 5 Devine Diva did not receive any rosette however she was 🥇 first in every ring she entered. She is young and I have no doubt her rosette day will come soon.

Jr Does

White Mountains ZE SW Bay Laurel (daughter of our late Thunder-Ridge KS Zeus) placed first in all the rings she entered and was awarded 🏆 Reserve Grand Champion under Kris Fraley and 🏆 Grand Champion under Paula Reisdorff.

Clauson Pty 5 Pumpkin Spice placed at the top of her classes and was awarded 🏆 Reserve Grand Champion under Don Bergfield.

At one point on day two, first place row of the senior doe champion lineup was full of my herd, with the exception of the aged doe. That was a proud pinch me moment!

This past weekend, we exhibited a few goats at the Pima County fair in Arizona. It was the first time that I had driven goats across a state line. I definitely learned a lot and I’m excited to do it again. The fair and show staff were wonderful and so was the weather. I am really pleased with how the herd performed. The following are the results that I can remember. One of the things I learned is that I need to take notes if I’m going to keep track of how the goats did in the ring. 😂

To keep this post from being a novel I am going to highlight each ring and age section separately.

On Friday the youth ring, judged by Erica Nobel, started the show off followed by the junior doe classes.

First in the youth show ring was Avery and our home bred junior doe, Clauson Pty 5 Dolly For Me (HJ Summit farm LilRed Corvette x HJ Summit Farm TW Winter Love). Dolly was born this February and we are very excited for her future. She is a long and level doe with excellent width to her rump. This was Dolly’s first show ever. She behaved very well and strutted like she was born for the show ring. Avery and Dolly won 🥇 their very competitive intermediate doe class.🎉

Next in the youth ring was Avery and HJ Summit Farm TW Winter Love (Wolfivan WP Tennessee Whiskey x Hooligans Farm Game of Love). Avery and Winter are quite the team and it is a joy to watch them in the ring. Winter is a beautiful doe that glides around the ring with grace. Avery and Winter won 🥇 her class and went on to win Grand Champion 🏆. 🎉

After the conclusion of the youth ring Avery and Dolly showed once more under Erica Noble in the open Pima County Fair ring. The class had over twenty beautiful goats entered. Avery and Dolly placed third! 🎉

Our beautiful Misty had her last milking with us this morning. She is off on a new adventure in a new state. Best wishes to her and her new family.

Our newest arrivals are starting to unfold. They are very sweet but they arrived with extra equipment. 😩 More boys 😩

I’m very thankful that mom and babies are healthy but definitely needed a moment to process my disappointment that I didn’t get a doe out of this breeding. Oh well they are snuggly and cute.

Two beautiful Nubian bucklings for Mellow this morning.
While I’m happy for a smooth delivery and healthy babies. I was really hoping for a keeper doe from this breeding. These boys are very handsome! I can’t wait to get better pictures of them in the next few days. These well bred boys are available as pets or can go registered as bucks. The wait for babies is finally over! Our 2025 kidding season has begun. Last night Winter kidded with buck and doe twins. They are cute!
Now we get to spoil them while we wait a week for Nubian babies from Mellow.
