About Devotion to Dogs:
Ben Davidson was training dogs in the San Diego area for 15 years prior to starting Devotion to Dogs. He founded Devotion to Dogs in January 2015, shortly after he attended Northridege Animal Behavior College. A Devotion to Dogs certified trainer will assess your dog(s) in a structured environment within our facility. Our facility is equipped with in-home replication, prop

er exercise requirements, availability to all breeds of dogs, as well as multiple personnel for testing all possible behaviors your dog could have. We will communicate with you about the energy and foundation from what we see during the appointment. We will immediately begin to offer you solutions to the unwanted behaviors we are observing. Before you leave, we will recommend possible tools to use with your dog, depending on the solutions we come up with. About Ben Davidson: Growing up, my family had five dogs. As far back as I can remember, I was playing with the dogs and watching how they interacted with each other and people. I began watching dog shows and learning about different breeds. During this time I grew to love the relationship between a boy and his dog. I learned it was truly a relationship of love, respect, and trust. This was the purest relationship I had experienced. I learned that dogs are more than just dogs. They are companions that can give you a rewarding, fulfilling life. They are there when you are sad, they are there when you are happy, they know when to give you space, and know exactly when not to when properly trained. I have learned that they have a very different way of communicating. Over the years, and all the time I have spent with dogs, I learned to read and understand them, which gives me the ability to communicate what is being said or not being said in every situation. My job is to observe what is happening with your dog and translate exactly what they are trying to tell you with their behavior in any given situation. Just imagine how peaceful your life could be with a pet that understands your direction and commands. My goal is to make sure quality of life for you and your family, dogs included, is the best it can be and to keep dogs from going to the shelters simply because of language barriers. I started training so I could educate and rehabilitate owners and their dog(s) making life better one lesson at a time. While I can help you meet any training goals you may have, the type of training I specialize in is behavioral. Most owners don’t realize their dog may require behavioral training. Behavior training can be anything from basic commands such as sit, stay, come to aggression towards other dogs or people. I set the foundation that helps correct ANY behavior problem.

Working with Gus Adobe today — this boy gets SO excited he can barely contain himself! He’s all had an no brakes. 🚗💨

An open car door does NOT mean ‘go for it.’ We’re repeating the process with clear, appropriate corrections until he learns to wait patiently before jumping in.

Consistency is key! Progress over perfection.

Who else has an overexcited pup that needs this lesson? 🐾

Yesterday I shared that Monty was just starting to understand loose-leash walking with the prong collar.
Today? He’s walking beautifully — calm, focused, and genuinely enjoying it.
The magic isn’t in the tool itself… it’s in what the leash becomes: a direct, clear line of communication between you and your dog.
With just a tiny bit of pressure and instant release, Monty now gets immediate, unmistakable feedback. No yelling, no pulling matches, no frustration. Just calm, consistent direction that he can understand and respond to. The leash turns into a conversation instead of a battle.
This is exactly why we use tools like the prong the right way — not for force, but for clarity. Once the dog understands the message, the pressure fades and the relationship deepens.
Huge progress in just two sessions, Monty! Proud of this boy.
If your dog pulls, lunges, or gets anxious on leash, this kind of clear communication can change everything.

🚶‍♂️ Leash Training Progress with Monty! 🐾
Watch Monty level up his leash skills right in front of your eyes!
One of the biggest game-changers in leash walking is teaching dogs to truly understand leash pressure — that subtle, two-way communication between you and your dog that turns pulling chaos into calm, connected walks.
A slip lead can sometimes offer quick guidance, but when a strong puller like Monty leans into it, it quickly creates its own problems: choking, gagging, and ongoing discomfort that actually makes pulling worse over time.
That’s where a quality Herm Sprenger prong collar shines. With its precise, even pressure and clear release, it gives Monty immediate, fair feedback so he learns to yield to the pressure instead of fighting against it. No more dragging or constant correction — just clean, consistent communication that builds understanding, confidence, and better behavior fast.
The goal? Teaching Monty to walk nicely on a loose leash and respond to the leash like a steering wheel — gentle, intentional guidance that helps us direct him exactly where we want him to go. Tools like the Herm Sprenger prong collar make this kind of clear teaching possible and effective.
Every dog is different, but the right high-quality tools + consistent teaching = happy, stress-free walks for everyone.

🐾⚡At Devotion to Dogs, we never rush the process. Proper E-collar training starts slow and thoughtful:

first we focus on clear imprinting so the dog fully understands what the stimulation means. Only once Pergo (and every dog) is confident and crystal clear on the collar do we move into gentle corrections. This patient approach builds trust, reduces stress, and creates reliable, happy results instead of confusion or fear.

Rushing E-collar training is one of the biggest mistakes we see — it can actually set dogs back. Done the right way? It becomes a powerful, humane communication tool that gives dogs more freedom and owners more peace of mind.
Progress takes time, but the payoff is worth it.

Proud of this boy!

Off-leash freedom starts with clear communication. 🐾 Using a properly conditioned e-collar allows your dog the freedom to explore while staying connected, safe, and responsive—no leash required.

🚨 Reactivity isn’t always about “aggression” — it’s often a dog stuck in a stress response (fight, flight, or freeze, you guess which one) causing and endless loop on repeat.

Watch Ben work this reactive dog, Jade, on a prong collar. Jade was fighting, pushing, and staying mentally locked up… until the Pet Corrector air can comes in.

That quick, surprising “psssshht” interrupts the spiral, resets the brain, and suddenly Jade is able to think instead of just react.

The whole demeanor changes — softer eyes, looser body, better focus, and real learning begins.

This is why timing and the right correction matter so much. The prong gives clear communication and boundaries, but the Pet Corrector was the magic key that unlocked Jade’s mind today.
Corrections done right aren’t

about punishment — they’re about helping the dog shift out of survival mode so they can actually succeed!
