Sophie presented to us about a week ago for having something stuck in her mouth. After taking a look, we were able to see something in between one of her back molars- so we did a sedated oral exam to assess further! When under sedation, we used a human floss pick to essentially just floss out a piece of rubber! It ended up being a tiny piece of a rubber bone that she was chewing earlier that day. After her sedated oral exam, we woke her up and sent her on her way! Thanks Sophie for being such a sweet patient. ☺️

Here you can see a cystocentesis being performed by one of our Veterinarians. This procedure may be performed on your pet in order to get a sterile urine sample. It is typically a quick and easy process, where the Veterinarian or Technician will use an ultrasound to visualize the bladder, and a needle to go through the abdominal wall to collect the urine directly from the bladder. We then use the sterile urine sample to send to the lab for a urinalysis or urine culture!

Guess that foreign body!!
This is Siggi the border collie, and he presented to us after ingesting something.... based on these xrays, does anyone have a guess on what it could be?? 🤔

EDIT TO ADD: And the answer is... coins!! He ate pennies, nickels and dimes. And we are happy to report, the coins have been removed and Siggi is doing well! 😊

This sweet kitten Celeste came in to see us for fleas and worms 🐱 Parasites are actually very common in young cats and kittens. The best thing you can do if you think your pet may have fleas, worms or both is to see a Veterinarian for treatment! Which is just what Celeste's new owners did 🥰 She was sent home after receiving a de-wormer and put on a monthly preventative. We recommend all cats and dogs get and stay on monthly preventatives for fleas/worms/heartworm all year round!

This week we've seen quite a few dogs for ingesting things they shouldn't 🫣 Laundry baskets, pie tins, chocolates, and more!! What do you do if your pet ingests something they shouldn't? Bring them in! Depending on what they ate and when, we may be able to induce vomiting with a medication called apomorphine. It's given intravenously so it works very fast! Once given, your pet will sit with one of our technicians (see Jordan here who's caring for Meghan the Cavi, with her scrunchie keeping her hair/ears out of her face 💁🏼‍♀️) and they'll likely start to vomit up whatever they ate right away 🤢
