Both kittens are sweet, playful, and full of personality. They are currently eating a little canned food and still taking some formula as they continue to grow and thrive.

Over the past eight months, Dr. Gaddy has had to make one of the hardest decisions a pet owner can face — saying goodbye to both of her oldest dogs as their quality of life declined.

As veterinary professionals, we dedicate our lives to helping animals live longer, healthier, and happier lives. But even with medical knowledge, experience, and endless love, there comes a time when the kindest and most selfless gift we can give our pets is a peaceful passing.

We know firsthand how heartbreaking these decisions are because we face them too — not just as veterinary professionals, but as pet parents. Choosing humane euthanasia is never “giving up.” It is choosing comfort over suffering, peace over pain, and love over our own desire to hold on longer.

Please be kind to yourself if you are facing this decision with your own pet. You are not alone, and there is no greater act of love than putting their needs before your heartbreak. ❤️
