After posting on YouTube last night my video about the EHD epidemic that is devastating our deer population, I have had multiple people reach out to me to share their finds. One caller from Defiance said they have given out 200 permits to pick up the antlers of dead deer. Michigan is having the same outbreak in areas as well. Just today I got a call from a concerned outdoorsman up by the Defiance airport. He found 27 in one woods and 19 in another. He called the game warden but could not leave a message due to his voicemail being full. He is still waiting on a call back. Another outdoorsman shared with me that he found 5 deer and sent me photos of three of them he found today. A nice buck in velvet, a yearling doe and a yearling buck. Also had a photo sent to me of a young buck found down near Wapak. Not only are we loosing nice mature bucks and does that have the genetics and knowledge to pass on, we are losing the young ones. This year fawns have little to no chance to make it to maturity if we don't step up and push on the DNR to stop the season for this year at least. One year of no deer hunting now can save the future of deer hunting.

Below are the photos of the deer found just today. Please send us your pictures, numbers and county of deer you find dead. I will make sure the DNR is unable to say they didn't know about this.

EHD is a devastating disease that is wrecking havoc on the Northwestern Ohio deer population. The Ohio DNR has been contacted multiple times by multiple concerned outdoorsman about the sheer number of dead deer that are being found daily. They are being found near or in water and in groups as well. All the amazing deer we have trail camera pictures of from the last couple years are dead. The large herds of does that feed below the clubhouse every night for our hunters to enjoy, only one or two are left. The does with fawns we had watched all spring and summer, only the small fawns are left wandering by themselves with no mom to guide them through their first winter. Today, my daughter and I put together a video and posted it to our YouTube Channel (link below) and Facebook. This is a call to arms for all outdoorsman who want to be able to share their love of the outdoors with their children and grandchildren. We are looking to organize an informational meeting to explore what can be done to preserve the coming years deer populations in Antwerp, OH. More details to follow.

Matt Stueve, guide at Thorn Bottom Hunting took a nice 11 point buck this afternoon. We are guessing after field dressing he weighs in around 180 pounds.

He was able to sit in the stand with both of his kids, making their day when he was able to harvest this buck. The hot chocolate in the deer stand took a close second for most awesome.
