August is Itchy Pet Awareness Month — a time dedicated to helping you learn more about allergic itch. Sometimes, what looks like typical dog scratching may be a serious medical condition known as dog allergic itch or allergic dermatitis.

Some of the team members participated in Outrun the Cops 5k to raise money for Lake County Children's Advocacy. While we may not have outran the cops, we at least made it to the finish line!

Just some safety reminders as we head into the holiday weekend.....
• Leave your pets at home! Loud fireworks, unfamiliar places and crowds can all be very frightening to pets, and there's a great risk of pets becoming spooked and running away.
• Consider putting your pets in a safe, escape-proof room or crate during parties and fireworks.
• Keep your pets inside if you or your neighbors are setting off fireworks.
• Keep sparklers, glow sticks, fireworks, charcoal and kabob skewers away from curious pets.
• Remember that too much sun and heat (and humidity!) can be dangerous to pets. Keep them inside when it's extremely hot/humid, and make sure they have access to shady spots and plenty of water when outdoors. Don't leave pets outside for extended periods in hot weather.

Say a biiigggg meow/hello to Hazel. She's an 8 week old Bengal kitty doing her very best Lion King impression! If you didn't already know, Bengal cats are one of the most intelligent cat breeds, known for their ability to learn tricks, solve puzzles, and even play fetch. They are also quite vocal, often communicating with their owners through meows, chirps, and other sounds.

This lil' pup looks like a perfect little stuffed animal!!
Her name is Yuki and she's a 10 week old Shih Tzu mix. We enjoyed meeting her and couldn't wait to be the next one to get to hold her!
Did you know Shih Tzu means “lion dog” in Chinese??

Naked baby!!!
Erek, the 4 month old Sphynx kitty came in to check on some sniffles he was having. Hopefully with his medicines he's been feeling better.
If you've never been lucky enough to pet a Sphynx cat, they feel soft like velvet. Not only are they really playful, they are incredibly affectionate, often described as "dog-like" in their need for attention and companionship. Their friendly demeanor and warmth-seeking tendencies make them perfect snuggle companions.

It's hard to get over the cuteness of this wittle face!!
This is Scout. He's a 12 week old Pembroke Welsh corgi. He came in for his puppy shots and was a very brave little boy. And he's super soft all over - from his pink little tum-tum to his teddy bear like fur!
Corgis are well known for their short legs and long bodies. They are intelligent, playful, and loyal dogs with a knack for herding, and they even have a connection to Welsh folklore and British royalty.
