EHV 1 and EHM outbreak in Wisconsin. Cases have also been reported in VA, OH, TN in recent weeks.

Symptoms include fever (temp over 101.5F) cough, nasal discharge, and lethargy most commonly. Vaccinated horses can still get the neurologic form of this disease which is caused by mutation of the virus.

EHV1 boosters are recommended, and should be included with your regular spring vaccines.

Please limit travel for your horses to help prevent spread of disease, and contact your vet if your horse has these symptoms.
