🐾 Happy World Veterinary Day! 🐾

🐰 Fun Fact Friday! 🌿
Did you know that rabbits can’t vomit? 🤯

That’s right—unlike dogs and cats, rabbits physically can’t throw up! This makes them extra sensitive to things like hairballs, inappropriate foods, or GI blockages, which can become serious very quickly. 🥕💨

That’s why a high-fiber diet (hello, hay!) and regular vet checkups are so important for keeping your bunny’s belly happy and healthy. 🩺💚

🌍 Happy Earth Day! 🌿

Today, we celebrate this beautiful planet we all call home—two-legged, four-legged, feathered, and scaled friends alike. 🐾🌎

As animal lovers and caregivers, we see every day how deeply connected our pets are to nature. From playful zoomies in the grass to peaceful sunbaths by the window, they remind us how precious and healing our environment truly is.

🐶🐱 How can you and your pet help the planet?
🌱 Choose eco-friendly pet products
🚶‍♂️ Walk more, drive less
💧 Pick up after your pet to protect waterways
♻️ Recycle pet food containers

Let’s do our part to keep our planet clean, green, and safe—for all creatures, great and small. 💚

🩺 Why is Pre-Surgical Bloodwork Important for Your Pet? 🐶🐱

Before your pet heads into surgery, we often recommend pre-surgical bloodwork—and for good reason!

🔬 What does it tell us?
This bloodwork gives us a behind-the-scenes look at your pet’s overall health. It checks vital organ function (like the liver and kidneys), red and white blood cell levels, and clotting ability—all of which are essential for a safe surgery and smooth recovery.

💉 Why is it important?
Even if your pet looks perfectly healthy, hidden issues can still exist. Bloodwork helps us:
✔ Detect underlying conditions early
✔ Choose the safest anesthesia plan
✔ Reduce surgical risks
✔ Customize post-op care for quicker healing

Your pet’s safety is our top priority. Pre-surgical bloodwork gives us the information we need to keep them safe before, during, and after their procedure.

💚 Because they’re family—and they deserve the best.

Spring has sprung, and we're hopping with joy to wish all our furry (and not-so-furry!) friends and their families a very Happy Easter! 🐾🐇

As you enjoy your chocolate eggs and family time, don’t forget to keep Easter treats out of paws’ reach — especially chocolate and xylitol-sweetened goodies, which can be harmful to pets! 🍫🚫🐶🐱

We're grateful for the chance to care for your beloved animals all year round. Wishing you a season full of love, sunshine, and tail wags! 💛🌼

Did you know... most dog bites happen with dogs we already know and love? 😲

That’s right! Over 70% of dog bites occur in the home or with a familiar dog. But here’s the good news: most bites are totally preventable with a little understanding and patience.

🐶 Dogs often give us signs when they’re feeling overwhelmed—like lip licking, yawning, or looking away. Learning their body language can help keep everyone safe and happy!

So, next time your pup needs space, give them a little “paws.” 🐾

🐾 National Dog Bite Prevention Week🐾
This week is all about education, awareness, and compassion. Whether you’re a pet owner, parent, or dog lover, here are a few quick tips to help prevent dog bites:

✅ Learn to recognize signs of stress or fear in dogs (growling, yawning, turning away).
✅ Never leave young children alone with dogs—no matter how gentle they are.
✅ Teach kids to respect dogs' space—no hugging, climbing, or interrupting rest.
✅ Socialize your puppy early and positively.
✅ Seek professional help if your dog shows signs of aggression or fearfulness.

👉 If your dog is nervous during vet visits, talk to us! We can help make appointments fear-free and less stressful.

Let’s work together to keep tails wagging and everyone safe. 💙

Animal Fun Fact Friday! 🐾🦔

Did you know?
🦔 Hedgehogs have around 5,000 to 7,000 spines on their backs!
Each spine is actually a stiff, hollow hair — and they’re constantly being replaced, just like human hair. Talk about a built-in defense system!

These tiny creatures may look prickly, but they’re full of personality (and pretty cute too 🥰).

🕷️ How to Safely Remove a Tick From Your Pet 🐾

If you find a tick on your dog or cat, don’t panic — here’s what to do:

✅ 1. Use Fine-Tipped Tweezers or a Tick Removal Tool
-Grasp the tick as close to your pet’s skin as possible.
-Gently pull upward with steady, even pressure.
-Avoid twisting or jerking — this can cause the mouthparts to break off and remain in the skin.

🧼 2. Clean the Area
After removing the tick, clean the bite site and your hands with soap and water or an antiseptic.

👀 43 Monitor Your Pet
Watch for signs of illness over the next few weeks:
• Limping or joint pain
• Fever or lethargy
• Loss of appetite
• Swollen lymph nodes

📞 5. Contact Your Vet if Needed
If symptoms develop or if you’re unsure the tick was removed completely, give us a call.

We may recommend testing or preventive treatment depending on your area and the type of tick.

🛡️ Prevention is best! Keep your pet on year-round tick protection.

What is Lyme Disease? 🐾
Lyme disease is a serious illness caused by a bacteria called Borrelia burgdorferi, which is transmitted through the bite of infected black-legged ticks (also known as deer ticks).

🐶 How does it affect pets?
Dogs are especially at risk, and while cats are less commonly affected, they can still carry ticks. Lyme disease in pets can cause:

-Limping or lameness (often shifting between legs)
-Fever and fatigue
-Joint pain or swelling
-Loss of appetite
In severe cases: kidney damage!!

🕵️‍♀️ Ticks are most active in the spring and summer, especially in grassy, wooded, or brushy areas. But prevention is important year-round!

✅ The good news?
Lyme disease is preventable! Regular tick prevention, daily tick checks, and vaccination (for dogs) can go a long way in protecting your pet.

Did you know that heartworms aren't just a threat to dogs? Cats can be affected too, and it's just as serious! 🐾

Heartworms are parasites transmitted through mosquito bites and can cause severe health issues for cats, including lung disease, heart failure, and even sudden death. Sadly, many cats with heartworms show no symptoms until it's too late.

Prevention is key, even if your cat is only indoor. Mosquitoes always seem to find a way to make it into the house!

Heartworm disease in cats is a serious matter. Prevention = protection.
