Yall remember Indy girl that went home about a month ago to be a guide dog. Well she's rocking it out. She already had some great hunts in Michigan. And now she's moved on the North Dakota. Man look at that pile of birds. She is such an awesome dog. She ain't as big as a minute. But that doesn't stop her. Super proud of this girl. When she first came, I wasn't sure she had enough drive to even make it thru the program. But her owner Jake Wilson and I stayed in touch almost every week rallying to continue her progress. He trusted me to get it out of her. And i trusted her to have enough grit to get past her reservations. And she is now a rock star already. Killing it this season. I bet she's not even 10 months old. And very small in stature. But not in heart. She has proven herself already a worthy competitor. Super proud of this little girl. And thank you Jake for trusting in me, even when neither of us were sure she was gonna do it. But she did. Man she did. I love it.

Now we have my baby doll Cass. She's also a Rhino pup like Gin,Lemy and Jelly Belly. Just a different mama. Still loads of talent. Man she's so sweet and super smart. We're working on lining and casting drills today. So we incorporated Cass into the line up. MIGHT move Cass as a started/ready to hunt dog. She is getting her casting down pretty good. She will be super good at it by next week. She's definitely got the goods. She's fun to be around and a pleasure to sit next to. She will make somebody a bang up hunting dog.

This morning we are working on a very important part of waterfowl training. Its lining and follow the gun drills. I train about 734 dogs a week over the phone. Lol. No money in that. But I want to help people who are struggling. So I take the top 3 things that I hear people struggling with and try to make videos for everyone. This week was "how do I get my dog to look down field"? We use the electronics for that here. But it's also important to have dogs look down field without duck sounds or audible cues. So this is how we do that. Lining drills and follow the gun. Both very important.
In this video we have Lemy girl. Shes fixin to go home and be a gun dog. So we want her to have the greatest chance for success in whatever the field throws at her. This dog is over the top amazing. 4-5 months of training. And that was broken up into different phases. She's an absolute rock star. Super proud of her progress and attitude toward training. Shes gonna have piles and piles sitting in front of her.

Mr Boone this morning working on some hold conditioning and we also start pressure fetch. Just a taste of it. And he accepts the pressure very nicely. He's such a nice smart boy. Especially for only being about 7 months old. He trusts and listens super good. Proud of this dude this week. Hes a Jude/Cache pup owned by Damon Boyd

Ok now we have my 5.5 month old Brittany pup Rocky. This is first time with the tether hook up at his flanks/haunches. Ive whoaed him some at his crate door and kennel door. But it starts in the house or yard way before we put out birds. Rocky has been on several birds. His point is incredible for a young pup. He even holds it pretty good. Especially for a dog thats not yet whoa broke. So I won't start this whoa training til we have established a point and even some retrieves. I want them to be birdy way before we whoa them. I want to build a love for birds and the game before we start this application. We definitely dont want to dilute their prey drive by whoaing too early. But he loves birds and retrieves good. So we are continuing his training. And this is the next step. I DO NOT steady my dogs to shot. These aren't field trial dogs. I want my dogs to break at the shot/flush to retrieve. Thats my preference. I also, unlike many others, want my bird dogs to flush. Why run a flushing dog when I can train these dogs to hold their point til released. I want them finding birds and pointing them. Holding their point til everyone gets in position then I release them with the command OK EASY, and they flush and retrieve. That will go against alot of people's ideology. Thats just my preference. Rocky is doing fantastic. Hope this helps someone

Maybe the last video of the day. Maybe one more. This is Jelly. My personal little princess. Man I love this little dog. I have such high hopes for her. She's smart and sweet, just like her siblings Gin and Lemy. These dogs have all got the goods. Im excited about these cooler temps and not as many client dogs, so I can run a few of my personal dogs and get them ready for season. I have a special infatuation for this little dog. And she knows it. Lol
