🎉TODAY is our Grand Opening, and true to our community’s nature, we were welcomed by two special gifts to congratulate our new shelter. We are giving a huge thank you to Shaw Florists for their gorgeous arrangement next to our friend Duffy, and GrandRapids Greenhouse for their beautiful garden pot. It is appreciated beyond measure.🩷🐾

We would like to introduce you to the Archie Pack Kitties 🐾

*All kitties have been exposed to adult cats and large dogs with no issues. They have not yet been spayed/neutered.

Archie, blue collar, short haired orange male: Sweet and playful! The least shy of his male siblings and will greet you in the morning. (Gimme breakfast!)

Reggie, black collar, orange long haired male: the shyest of the males. He enjoys you holding him close while getting pet.

Chuck, green collar, orange short haired male: loves picking on Archie. Likes to nap by himself when given a chance.

Ethel, dark torti long haired female: The absolute leader of her siblings. She demands attention and will sit on your lap whether you like it or not.

Betty, pink collar short haired orange female: shy at first, then warms up and loves snuggles and side of ear scratches.

Veronica, purple collar short haired orange female: loves to sneak attack surprise her sisters. Loves pets around her cheeks.

Surrendering an animal can be a difficult and emotional decision, and every situation looks a little different.

There is no requirement for an animal to be spayed, neutered, or vaccinated before being surrendered to Great Tails Animal Rescue. Whether it is a personal pet, a family member’s animal, or a stray you have found, we are here to help.

Once an animal is in our care, we take care of all the medical steps needed to prepare them for a safe, healthy future in a new home.

If you are facing a situation where an animal needs help, please know you are not alone. We are here for you every step of the way 🐾

Everyone meet Ms. Ava! Ava was a very loved girlie by her person. She had to be given to family when apartment rules changed and there she was not “kept up” as much as she should have been. Ava is very overweight and her skin needs some spa treatments and meds (which she is getting by her foster). She has a vet appointment this week.

One thing we know for sure is that those 2 issues aside, she is a perfect girl! Ava is a 7 1/2 yo heeler terrier mix and weighs in at 36 pounds. Ava loves attention from all friends including dogs, cats, and children. We will keep you posted and hoping we can get closer to finding Ava’s abs again!
