What gives you energy?

After a busy week, some people can't wait to gather with friends, attend an event, or talk through everything that happened.

Others find themselves craving quiet, solitude, or time in nature before they feel ready to engage again.

Neither approach is right or wrong.

We all have natural preferences for how we restore our energy.

The challenge is that we often assume everyone recharges the way we do.

What helps you feel refreshed after a long week?

When we become curious about our own preferences—and the preferences of those around us—we can extend greater compassion and grace.

Exploring the unique ways we navigate the world can reduce judgment, strengthen relationships, and create a deeper sense of connection and belonging.

Are you more likely to recharge with people, in solitude, or somewhere in between?

Last night was our first Meet the Herd gathering!

The horses were fully present.
The fire was crackling.
The snacks were delicious.
The circle was open.

While the evening didn't unfold exactly as planned, it was a beautiful reminder of what this space is all about—connection.

We spent time with the herd, enjoyed a beautiful summer evening, made s'mores, shared stories and music around the fire, and ended the night grateful for the simple gifts of horses, nature, friends, and community.

Building something meaningful takes time, and every gathering is part of the journey.

These photos offer a few glimpses of the space, the herd, and the heart behind REACH Within Ranch—a place where people can slow down, connect, and simply be.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support this dream. Your encouragement means more than you know.

Meet Arapaho.

She came to my family as an untouched two-year-old with a strong will, clear opinions, and very little interest in doing things simply because a human said so.

When she eventually became my horse, I was walking through one of the most difficult seasons of my life.

I thought I was gaining a riding partner. Instead, I gained a teacher.

For years, Arapaho was my confidant, my adventure partner, and the horse who carried me through countless miles of trails, challenges, and life lessons. Yet some of the most important things she taught me had nothing to do with riding.

Arapaho demanded respect. Not fear. Not force. Respect.

She taught me that boundaries matter.

She taught me that trust cannot be demanded—it must be earned.

What I discovered is that once trust and respect are earned, Arapaho is fiercely loyal.

She is one of the hardest-working horses I have ever known. No matter the task, the challenge, or the sacrifice, she showed up with determination. On the trail, she was a steady protector, never hesitating to stand between danger and those in her care—whether human or equine.

When she was ready to step away as my primary riding partner, Arapaho became an incredible lesson horse for youth.

She has a natural gift for meeting humans exactly where they are while gently inviting them to grow. She offers just enough challenge to build confidence while creating safety in times of uncertainty.

She brings those same gifts into her work as an equine coaching partner at REACH Within Ranch.

Arapaho is a powerful teacher of boundaries, respect, and authenticity.

She has little interest in masks or pretending. She responds to authenticity. She notices vulnerability. And when people are willing to show up honestly, she meets them with extraordinary grace.

Time and again, I have watched her help people discover that healthy boundaries are not walls—they are acts of self-respect.

Arapaho has spent her life teaching me—and so many others—that the strongest relationships are not built through control.

They are built through trust and safety.

And from trust, everything else can grow.

Have you ever noticed that two people can experience the exact same situation and walk away with completely different reactions?

One person feels energized.

Another feels exhausted.

One wants to process out loud.

Another needs quiet time alone.

One wants details.

Another wants the big picture.

What if neither person is wrong?

What if they're simply viewing the world through a different lens?

Understanding our natural preferences can transform the way we relate to ourselves and others. It can help us better understand our strengths, navigate differences with greater compassion, and deepen our connections.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing some thoughts about personality preferences and temperament. We'll have some fun exploring these ideas more deeply alongside the herd during an upcoming retreat day.

Yesterday's Connection & Healing Circle at Rivers Edge Ranch in Aurora was a beautiful reminder that warmth doesn't come from the weather—it comes from connection.

The skies were cloudy, the wind was strong, and the temperatures were cool. Yet within our circle, women found warmth in a space of safety, authenticity, belonging, and gentle support.

One of the core intentions of these circles is that women are held while learning to hold themselves with compassion.

Yesterday, I witnessed women showing up with courage and vulnerability, allowing themselves to be seen and supported just as they were.

And as always, the herd held us all.

With their quiet wisdom and steady presence, the horses helped create space for reflection, awareness, and truth. They reminded us that we don't have to carry everything alone.

My heart is full of gratitude for every woman who joined us, for the horses who partnered with us, and for Rivers Edge Ranch for providing such a beautiful place to gather.

The weather may have been cool, but the hearts gathered there were warm.

My heart is full after our first Women's Connection Circle in Grand Rapids!

I am deeply grateful to the women who showed up with courage, curiosity, and a willingness to be present with themselves and one another.

Throughout the afternoon, both Bodie and Arapaho showed up in a big way—offering their wisdom, their presence, and their generous hearts.

What continues to amaze me is how horses create space for authenticity. They ask nothing of us except that we show up as we are.

Together, we explored connection, vulnerability, self-compassion, and the power of being witnessed without judgment. It was a beautiful reminder that healing doesn't always happen through fixing—it often begins with feeling seen, heard, and accepted.

To everyone who attended, thank you for trusting the process, the horses, and yourselves.

And if you've been curious about experiencing this work for yourself, there is still space available for tomorrow's Women's Connection and Healing Circle in Aurora.

You don't need horse experience.
You don't need to have it all figured out.

You simply need to come as you are with an open heart.

Registration information is available in the comments.

Yesterday's Once in a Blue Moon Market was such a wonderful experience.

I had the opportunity to meet and connect with so many incredible people, and I left feeling deeply grateful for the community we have here in Grand Rapids.

One of the things that stood out most was the number of small businesses and individuals who are passionate about supporting wellness, connection, healing, creativity, and community. It was inspiring to be surrounded by so many people sharing their gifts and making a positive impact in their own unique ways.

Ironically, I didn't take a single photo. I was so engaged in the conversations, connections, and moments that I never thought to pull out my phone. And honestly, I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

A heartfelt thank you to the event organizers, the vendors, and everyone who stopped by to share a conversation, ask questions, or simply introduce themselves. I appreciate each of you.

If you were there, what was your favorite part of the evening?

I'd love to hear what stood out to you.

This afternoon! Hope to see you there!

The Growing Harmony Within “Being Who I Want To Be” workshop was a meaningful and insightful experience. Kim brings a calm, grounded presence and has a relatable way of teaching complex concepts that naturally invites curiosity, reflection, and awareness.

I left the workshop with renewed energy, greater clarity, several heartfelt “aha” moments, and a deeper compassion for my own human experience and that of others I love.

The concepts Kim shared align beautifully with Gestalt principles and values-based living, reinforcing the importance of awareness, body-based healing, and compassion in our human experience.

I place high value on integrating self-awareness and ongoing personal growth as essential elements of healing — not only for myself, but so I can remain present, attuned, and supportive in my work with others.

The human experience we are navigating today calls for an even greater commitment to awareness, personal growth, and alignment with our personal values, as well as values that support humanity as a whole. I’m grateful for the spirit of collaboration and shared intention that Kim brings forward.

I encourage you to watch for upcoming offerings from both Reach Within Ranch and Growing Harmony Within as we each continue to create spaces for healing and growth — and explore ways to collaborate and offer deeply aligned, meaningful experiences.

As I stood in the pasture and reflected on 2025 with the herd, I became overwhelmed with gratitude for two simple yet powerful truths.

This year, I learned the importance of patience and allowing—when I trusted the timing and let the journey unfold, abundance, joy, and fulfillment were unmistakable.

When I pushed or forced the path, stress took over, the feeling of abundance disappeared, and joy felt scarce.

Turns out, I prefer patience and allowing and I pray I continue to develop this skill!

Reflection on the lessons is crucial for me, as is reflections on the things I have shared with others. This year I shared infinite moments of meaningful connection—with the horses and with some truly incredible humans, both personally and professionally!

I invite you to take a moment to pause and reflect on your 2025...

1. What is one thing you learned in 2025?
2. What is one thing you shared with others?
