🐾 FOUND STRAY DOG – PLEASE HELP US FIND HER OWNER! 🐾

Gila County Animal Care & Control is seeking the owner of this sweet girl who was found as a stray on Kachina Trail near the Gila County Fairgrounds.

🐕 Animal ID:
❤️ Nickname: "Shorty" (We know this may not be her actual name, but she has adjusted to it very well while in our care.)
🐾 Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer
🎨 Color: Chocolate
♀️ S*x: Female

When Shorty arrived at our shelter, she did not have a collar, registration, or a microchip, so we were unable to identify or contact an owner associated with her.

Gila County Animal Care and Control is pleased to announce the addition of 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐞 to its team serving the Payson area.

Officer Thorne recently joined Gila County Animal Care and Control after retiring from the Arizona Department of Corrections, where he dedicated 20 years of service to the State of Arizona. Throughout his career, he gained valuable experience in public service, professionalism, and community relations.

In his free time, Gene enjoys spending time outdoors and taking advantage of Arizona’s beautiful landscapes. His love for the outdoors, combined with his extensive public service background, makes him a great fit for the Animal Care and Control team.

"We are excited to welcome Gene to our department," said John "JC" Castaneda, Program Manager for Gila County Animal Care and Control. "His experience, dedication to public service, and strong work ethic will be a tremendous asset to the residents and animals of the Payson area."

Officer Thorne's background provides him with a unique perspective that strengthens Gila County Animal Care and Control's mission of providing compassionate, professional, and responsible animal control services. He is committed to promoting public safety, protecting animal welfare, and serving the community with integrity.

Globe-Miami-San Carlos residents needing spay/neuter surgery, vaccines and other medical care for dogs and cats: Desert Cross Veterinary Hospital’s mobile vet clinic visits Globe on the second and fourth Thursday every month, returning May 28, June 11 and June 25.

Desert Cross parks at JR’s Feed and Tack – located at the junction of Golden Hills and Russell Road. Their mobile clinic offers vaccines, exams and even spay/neuter surgery can be arranged.

🚨FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE🚨

Gila County Animal Care and Control would like to address questions regarding the four puppies recently brought into our care and transferred to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.

The four puppies were discovered underneath a citizen’s deck, which had to be partially opened in order to safely retrieve them. The puppies were estimated to be approximately two weeks old and still had their eyes closed. At that age, they require around-the-clock care and bottle feeding to survive.

The mother dog is believed to be a stray that Animal Care and Control has been attempting to humanely capture for the past several weeks. Multiple traps have been set, but unfortunately we have not yet been successful in catching her.

Due to the critical needs of the puppies, Gila County Animal Care and Control contacted our partner, the Humane Society of Southern Arizona. They advised us they had a foster available who could immediately provide the specialized 24-hour care the puppies need.

Our officers will continue efforts to safely capture the mother dog, and if possible, reunite her with the puppies. We respectfully ask the public not to feed the stray dog at this time, as it makes trapping efforts much more difficult when the dog is not hungry enough to enter humane traps.

Please also remember that when dogs or puppies are transferred to a rescue organization and placed into foster care, foster information is kept confidential for the safety and privacy of both the animals and the foster families. Gila County Animal Care and Control does not release foster location or contact information.

🇺🇸 MEMORIAL DAY CLOSURE NOTICE 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. ❤️🤍💙

Gila County Animal Care & Control will be CLOSED today, Monday, May 25th, in observance of Memorial Day.

🐾 Normal business hours will resume tomorrow, May 26th, from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

🐾 FOUND DOG – GREAT DANE 🐾

This sweet girl was found as a stray off of Hicks Rd in Globe, AZ 85501.

We are currently calling her “Daisey,” but this may not be her actual name.

📌 Animal ID:
⚖️ Weight: 99 pounds

Daisey did not have any identification by means of microchip or Gila County registration. She was also not wearing a collar and does not have any obvious identifying marks.

She has been brought to our facility for safe housing while we work to locate her owners.

This sweet girl, who we are currently calling “Missy” (this may not be her actual name), was found roaming near Central Dr / Main St in Central Heights (Globe, AZ).

Unfortunately, she was found without any identification, including:
• No microchip
• No Gila County registration tags

Our officers are currently out in the area hoping to locate her owners. She is very friendly and appears to be well cared for.

🚨 𝐆𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩 🚨

These two little cuties, 𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐚, were found in the Six Shooter area and are trying to find their way back home. They are safe at our facility, and we are hoping the community can help reunite them with their owners. ❤️🐾

If you recognize these dogs or know where they belong, please contact Gila County Animal Care and Control so we can help get them home as quickly as possible.

This is also a great reminder about the importance of having some type of identification on your pets. Even if you think your dog would never get out, it only takes one time — a gate blowing open, a door left cracked, or another unexpected situation — for your furry family member to wander off.
