What do you notice?!?!

Those red circles on the gums are called parulides, or the drainage point of an abscessed tooth.

We were able to quickly notice this patient's clinical signs, oral sensitivity, and abscessation.

In this case, endodontic treatment or extraction would be valid options, so the owner elected extraction.

We are so glad to announce that this sweet patient is doing very well at home in recovery 🦷🐾🐶

✨️ Yoda's Dental Day ✨️

She is a 10 year old white pitbull with beautiful eyes 👀 and a brand new smile 🦷

Before and After photos taken with some areas blurred out due to blood droplets 🩸

Yoda had a multitude of dental issues and concerns, including complicated crown fractures of her upper left canine and two upper right premolars, periodontal disease with bone loss and crowding, periapical lucencies, discolored and non-vital dentition, gingival enlargement, abrasions, malocclusion with palatal trauma, and a cyst at the rostral mandible near a retained tooth root.

10 extractions, 5 gingivectomies, and 1 cyst debridement later...and we're happy to report she is doing great at home while recovering.

We were honored to provide care to this sweet gal and hope she heals quickly 🤍

Unfortunately, complicated crown fractures or "cracked teeth" are some of the most common conditions we see on oral examination.

Fractured teeth HURT 😬 and require intervention with extraction or root canal treatment.

Please consider soft toys, kong toys, or VOHC approved dental chews for your cats and dogs.
