Hi friends… my name is Dolly 🤍🐾

I’m the forever foster from Sky Sanctuary here at Connected Canine, and I have quite the story to tell.

I first came here last year to work with Jada, one of the trainers, because I can be a little reactive toward other dogs. But from the moment we met, Sara always joked that I had “heart eyes” for her. We bonded quickly, and I became known around here for my famous awoooos 🐶💕

I’ve been with Sky Sanctuary for about two years now, which makes me their longest resident. In all that time, I only had one meet and greet.

Then I developed demodectic mange, caused by Demodex mites. These microscopic mites normally live on a dog’s skin in small numbers, but when the immune system is weakened, they can multiply and cause severe hair loss, skin infections, and a lot of discomfort.

In my case, it spread across my whole body. I lost a lot of weight, became very weak, and there were times I couldn’t walk well and had to be carried. The doctors warned my people things would get worse before they got better 💔

But I’m a tough girl 💪🐾

After months of treatment and love, I slowly got stronger. I gained my weight back, found my voice again, and my awoooos are louder than ever 🎶🐶

Now I’m officially Connected Canine’s forever foster. I may not have a traditional forever home, but I found something just as special. A place where I’m loved, safe, and exactly where I belong 🤍🏡🐾

The small wins are everything in our books! Our friend Marshall came to us because he was reactive to people and other dogs on walks. They were no longer an enjoyable moment for him or his human.

We trained Marshall with actual distractions, helping to build a connection first, then worked with him on his confidence.

Last week? Marshall went to his second farmers market. Crowds, dogs, and new people everywhere with little to no reaction. (Yay!)
