We share training and grooming tips, education, and everyday life with our gentle giants. My name is Lisa Sersha and I have owned and operated Black Wolf Kennels, LLC since November of 2002! I was employed as a Head Veterinarian Technician for eight years before I opened BWK.....
Since I have opened, I graduated with honors as an Animal Behavior Certified Professional Dog Trainer, a Certified Ment

or Trainer, Certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluator through the AKC, Certified Pet Care Technician and I have taken several courses through FEMA to assist animals in disastrous situations. I strongly believe a person can never have enough knowledge in caring for our companion animals. We are a full professional boarding, training and breeding facility and passed our AKC inspection with excellence. Our focus is on our Newfoundland’s today and for many years to come. We have been a breeder of the "Newfoundland" aka "The Gentle Giant" for 20 years.....
We take great pride in my devotion to our breeding program.......

If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them..... :)

When you get your 8/10 week old puppies, please keep this image in mind. Their bones do not even touch yet. They plod around so cutely with big floppy paws and wobbly movement because their joints are entirely made up of muscle, tendons, ligaments with skin covering. Nothing is fitting tightly together or has a true socket yet.

When you run them excessively or don't restrict their exercise to stop them from overdoing it during this period you don't give them a chance to grow properly. Every big jump or excited bouncing run causes impacts between the bones. In reasonable amounts this is not problematic and is the normal wear and tear that every animal will engage in.

But when you're letting puppy jump up and down off the lounge or bed, take them for long walks/hikes, you are damaging that forming joint. When you let the puppy scramble on tile with no traction you are damaging the joint.

You only get the chance to grow them once. A well built body is something that comes from excellent breeding and a great upbringing-BOTH, not just one.

Once grown you will have the rest of their life to spend playing and engaging in higher impact exercise. So keep it calm while they're still little baby puppies and give the gift that can only be given once.

Sometimes the hardest dogs end up leaving the biggest paw prints on our hearts. 🐾🩷

When Liberty arrived 6–7 weeks ago for what was supposed to be a two-week board and train, Kerry wasn’t so sure about her. In fact, by the second day, he walked in frustrated and said, “I can’t do it. This dog is too much.”

Liberty was stubborn. She pushed boundaries. She challenged every rule. She tested every ounce of patience we had.

Then life happened.

Due to a family emergency, Liberty ended up staying with us much longer than planned. What started as training turned into something much more. The pressure disappeared, and Liberty simply got to be a dog. She played. She socialized. She learned. She trusted.

And somewhere along the way, something changed.

Not just in Liberty—but in Kerry, too.

The dog he thought he couldn’t handle became one of his favorites. The dog that arrived pushing every boundary became a completely different dog. Well-mannered, confident, loving, and happy.

Today was pickup day.

What Kerry didn’t know is that I was recording from a distance because I had a feeling this goodbye was going to be a tough one. 😞

And I was right.

The man who swore he couldn’t do it was standing there with tears in his eyes saying goodbye to a dog who had become family.

This is what people don’t always see.

They see the finished dog. They see the obedience. They see the training results.

What they don’t see are the early mornings, the long days, the patience, the setbacks, the victories, and the love that goes into every dog that walks through our doors.

At BlackWolf Kennels, it’s never just training.

It’s relationships.
It’s trust.
It’s commitment.

And sometimes, it’s a grown man crying because a dog he once wanted to send home stole a piece of his heart.

Safe travels, Liberty. Your family is getting an amazing dog back today, but we’ll miss you more than you know. ❤️🐾

🪨 Kita has suddenly become obsessed with THIS rock... 👀

She stands by it. She lays by it. She refuses to leave it.

What do you think is so special about this rock? 🤔

To be continued...

Sometimes the videos that mean the most are the ones you aren’t looking for.

Today, while going through old memories, we found this video from 12 years ago. The laughter instantly filled the room and reminded us of someone who helped make BlackWolf what it is today.

As many of you know, Mom passed away around this time last year. For more than 25 years, she stood behind BlackWolf every step of the way. She was our biggest cheerleader, our voice of encouragement, and a constant source of love and support. In so many ways, she was the heart of BlackWolf. ❤️

Watching this video brought smiles, tears, and a flood of memories. We know many of our longtime friends and followers knew her as well, so we wanted to share this special moment with all of you and how “momma Bonnie” brought laughter everywhere she went. 🤗

We hope her laughter brings a smile to your face today, just as it did ours. ❤️

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever part of BlackWolf. 🐾

DAIMOND spent a day at the lake!
This was so so great for socializing her. She did phenomenal! Everyone complimented how great and well behaved she was with all the kids and the chaos! We are so proud of Diamond. This is just some of the many things we do to help send off a great, sound, dog into the big world!💕
