Sometimes the hardest dogs end up leaving the biggest paw prints on our hearts. 🐾🩷
When Liberty arrived 6–7 weeks ago for what was supposed to be a two-week board and train, Kerry wasn’t so sure about her. In fact, by the second day, he walked in frustrated and said, “I can’t do it. This dog is too much.”
Liberty was stubborn. She pushed boundaries. She challenged every rule. She tested every ounce of patience we had.
Then life happened.
Due to a family emergency, Liberty ended up staying with us much longer than planned. What started as training turned into something much more. The pressure disappeared, and Liberty simply got to be a dog. She played. She socialized. She learned. She trusted.
And somewhere along the way, something changed.
Not just in Liberty—but in Kerry, too.
The dog he thought he couldn’t handle became one of his favorites. The dog that arrived pushing every boundary became a completely different dog. Well-mannered, confident, loving, and happy.
Today was pickup day.
What Kerry didn’t know is that I was recording from a distance because I had a feeling this goodbye was going to be a tough one. 😞
And I was right.
The man who swore he couldn’t do it was standing there with tears in his eyes saying goodbye to a dog who had become family.
This is what people don’t always see.
They see the finished dog. They see the obedience. They see the training results.
What they don’t see are the early mornings, the long days, the patience, the setbacks, the victories, and the love that goes into every dog that walks through our doors.
At BlackWolf Kennels, it’s never just training.
It’s relationships.
It’s trust.
It’s commitment.
And sometimes, it’s a grown man crying because a dog he once wanted to send home stole a piece of his heart.
Safe travels, Liberty. Your family is getting an amazing dog back today, but we’ll miss you more than you know. ❤️🐾
