** Help Needed ~ Networking or Adopting **
Last Friday we were notified that one of our long-term Vegas supporters was hospitalized due to ongoing medical issues. At the time of her hospitalization, Animal Control took in her six dogs which included two of our shelties. The dogs were put on 10 day holds at the contracted shelter. We ascertained the status of all dogs and identified the process to retrieve our shelties.
What to do about the other dogs was uncertain - they were not shelties or collies. However, given the long-time service of our hospitalized supporter, an undetermined hospital stay, and the now certain belief that she would not be in a position to care for the dogs in the future, we could not abandon her other dogs in that shelter.
We quickly mobilized over multiple days to get all dogs removed from the shelter. On Tuesday, one of the shelties was removed and placed in foster to adopt status with one of our Vegas applicants. On Wednesday, the five remaining dogs, including our sheltie were removed from the shelter and transported to Phoenix. We were fortunate to have identified fosters for those dogs for at least an initial temporary period. We placed the other sheltie in a foster to adopt status with a local Phoenix applicant and hopefully that will work out. For the other dogs, which we are just now getting to know, we will be getting them into the vet and getting behavioral assessments. Current descriptions and pictures of these dogs follow. They are obviously used to a multidog household.
We could use your help in networking these dogs as they are not our usual breed(s) If you, or anyone you know, would be interested in helping or adopting one of these dogs please let us know. Their descriptions are with their pictures. Thank you 🐾 💛
