🌻Gilly Update🌻

Sometimes when an animal doesn’t get a lot of support we take that as “no one cares” and we don’t update but last night as I put photos up of animals (mine and some fosters) for Dia De Los Mu***os I realized that everyone in our care deserves to be known even if the world isn’t so caring.

Gilly is still fighting an infection in his hind right leg. He had his surgical flush done and he was doing better until he wasn’t. We decided to take him in to see Dr. Jessica where he got a new sample from his joint taken and sent to the University of Arizona Vet Lab to make sure we’re using the most effective drugs to fight the specific bacteria wrecking his leg. His doctor also injected antibiotics directly into the joint.

We’ve ordered an additional 12 bottles of antibiotics for 6 additional days and that totals 3 current antibiotics as we try to save his life. We are grateful every day for Annette and the months of medicating/bandaging/therapy she has done for Gilly.

On the bright side, he has gained weight and today he crow hopped in his stall. It’s hard seeing his demeanor and overall improve and his leg remain septic.

Hooper always looks like he’s saying “oopsie daisy” and it’s adorable. He’s shy when meeting new people and going new places because he hasn’t met many people or seen many places. Once he settled into his foster home they told us he’s the SWEETEST boy. Hooper loves playing with the dogs in his foster home and thinks soft plushy toys are the best.

Spay Day for the Biene baby!

Biene came to use with a massive cleft palate (3rd photo) that meant anything that went into her mouth-went right into her nose. She had to drink from a rabbit water bottle, couldn’t chew on toys, and had to spend a great deal of time kenneled when she couldn’t be watched. With your support we had that surgically repaired for her! Her oral surgeon removed the cartilage from her left ear and grafted that inside of her mouth to help bridge the significant gap of bone in the mouth. After, her surgeon pulled the tissue of her hard palate together and sutured everything together.

Months of rehab later her mouth healed from that surgery and that means she was ready to get spayed💉

All of her follow up appointments with her oral surgeon were while she was awake so I’m sure you can imagine just how good of a look she would let us take🫠 but when she went under anesthesia for her spay her primary doctor was able to take a GOOD look and sent us photos.

Biene does have a small remaining hole but because of the transplanted cartilage from her ear, it’s not likely communicating (meaning things cannot pass from mouth to nasal cavity). Today Biene is eating kibble. Drinking water from a fountain, and playing with ALL of the toys. Right now our job is to monitor her eating and drinking to make sure that all continues to stay well✨

Xena is a perfect girl. She is gentle with small dogs and respects large dogs that she meets. What a gem. She is an active little girl but not over the top bonkers like Mal’s can be:-) She is on the smaller side making her the most amazing travel companion for all adventures.
