Providing best welfare means always looking to learn more and one way we do that is by looking at choices made by feral populations of domestic animals. We know that domestic horses that are not managed in human care have a diet that is around 80% grass with the remainder being other plants including trees and shrubs. During monsoon season we lose branches and trees and we always keep an eye out for browse that is approved for them to eat as a snack and it’s usually a big hit💚

There’s always a learning/adjustment period when putting a dog into a wheelchair and that is where we are right now. Even though she “only” weighs 40lbs it is not the easiest task to line up all four legs in to holes that ideally would go in all at the same time but then you add her kicking her back legs and peddling with the front because she’s just so excited to go it makes it a bit difficult. Maybe if it was only done once or twice a day but she’s in and out of the wheelchair constantly so this is where you can help ❤️ We would like to upgrade her harnesses that she wears, front and back, no lifting just buckle her into the wheelchair 🤩 This will make the process for her and us much faster and easier 😊

We are looking for transport from the Phoenix area to either Tucson or preferably the Sierra Vista/Hereford area. Even though this is not a medical emergency, it is a medical puppy and we would like to get him here as soon as possible. We are happy to reimburse for gas, please pm if you are able to help.

Sometimes by the end of the day, I have already forgotten all the adventures throughout the day and just when I start to think that it’s slowing down a bit and I will have some time to get caught up, there it is 🧨 It was towards the end of the day, and I was loading hay when I heard a loud crash and all the birds that were starting to settle in the trees for the night all left in a hurry. For a brief moment I thought about ignoring it but went to see what the loud crashing noise was. A very large mesquite tree broke in half and after making sure that no one was trapped or hurt I wanted to turn around and tell myself this is a problem for another day but there was a little baby bird that had no nest to go back in to. I took an empty nest out of the fallen tree, and that is where he has been and demanding to be fed ALL the time 😭 As far as the fallen tree my loss is the horses gain and they are enjoying all the browse that they are getting as the fallen tree is being broken up 😔

This group of babies came to us as TNR/Barn Kitties from animal control but we think they prefer that house cat life now...

We are learning Miss Ophelia’s new mobility device, and as always we have to make adjustments and accommodations as things arise. We think for a dog that has been laying on her side for presuming all of her life. She has done amazing in this short period with us ❤️ Since her MRI was almost unremarkable and the neurologist did not see anything that would explain her disability it will be a fine tuned process on how we move forward so we can make the best progress possible. Huge thank you to BARK 'N BERRY for advocating for this girl so hard and everybody that is railing behind this very special girl!! we have a few ideas on how to help her long-term, but a couple of more immediate needs are a couple of dog beds raised one for outside time and a waterproof one for inside that we added to our chewy wish list and a bit more comfy wheelchair harnesses that will lessen the pressure areas when she has wheelchair time and we will add a link for them a bit later today in the comments.

Transport needed for tomorrow from Hereford to Tucson and we are trying to get her there no later than 2 o’clock.

This little lady has a scheduled meet and greet tomorrow and needs a ride. Anyone going that could take her along please message if you are able to help and would like to be a part of her adoption story 💓

Meet Finn🏖️

Finn is a gem. He is sweet with every dog he's met and has decided that everyone is his friend. He goes into the garden with his foster mom in the mornings and lays in the cool freshly watered spots before the sun is too hot to be outside anymore. A purple alien chew toy is his favorite right now. He is wonderful on care trips now. He is timid in new situations but his tail never stops while he gets brave enough to say "hi". He is genuinely a sweet sweet soul.
