Happy Halloween! All of us here at All 4 Paws hope you, the kiddos, and the fur babies have a safe and happy holiday!
With that being said, we have some Halloween safety tips to ensure your pets stay safe! ⬇️
🍫Chocolate especially dark/baking), xylitol, and raisins are all often found in trick or treat buckets and are TOXIC to pets! Candy wrappers also pose a danger, as they can cause intestinal blockages. Keep all candy out of reach of pets and ensure your trash is secured!
🎃 Decorations and fire risks! Pets can knock over lit candles or lit jack-o-lanterns, which can cause burns or start a fire. Glow sticks, batteries, wires, and small decorations can be chewed up and pose toxicity, choking, or foreign body risks.
🐶Costume safety! Only dress up your pets if they are comfortable, avoid restricting costumes. Costumes must NOT block hearing, sight, breathing, or restrict movement. Avoid small parts that can be swallowed or chewed, and always supervise your pet in costume.
🌜Minimize stress and stay aware and prepared. If you have an anxious pet, keep them in a secure and quiet room during trick or treat. Use barriers (ex: doors, crates, baby gates) to prevent accidental escape. Reduce exposure to loud noises, crowds, and costumes that can spook your pet. Ensure your pets microchip is UTD and registered BEFORE trick or treat starts. Research local emergency vets and familiarize yourself with their contact number in the event of emergency.
