✨Foster Spotlight: Nala✨
Meet Nala — the total package! This sweet girl has been with her foster family for about four weeks, and they can’t say enough good things about her.

Nala is house trained, calm, and friendly with everyone she meets. She loves going for walks, playing with her squeaky toys, and showing off her tricks — sit, shake, and lay down! She’s great on leash, rides perfectly in the car, and has wonderful house manners.

She’s gentle, affectionate, and loves following her people around just to be part of whatever’s happening. Nala rarely barks, sheds very little, and is a polite eater who takes treats so gently.

Her foster says she’s “an all-around great dog” — smart, loyal, and loving. Nala would make an amazing companion for someone who wants a calm, easy-going best friend by their side. 💛

If you are interested in meeting Nala, please email [email protected] to connect with her current foster.

We Need Your Help to Feed Pets in Our Community

Lately, we've seen an increase in families from our community requesting food assistance for their pets. As always, our goal is to be a safe place for pets in need - and you help make that possible!

Can you help us help our neighbors?

We are especially in need of large bags of adult dog food. You can donate by:
• Ordering online from Amazon or Costco (we'll include links to a few good options below - they can ship directly to the shelter!), or
• Bringing in your favorite brand to the shelter yourself.
If you drop off donations in person, please place them in the yellow donation bins located outside our service building.

Our address:
1855 SE Inner Loop, Georgetown, TX 78626

Thank you for always stepping up to support pets and the people who love them.

Update-Rihanna will be coming to the shelter on Friday, instead of Thursday. If anyone is interested in fostering her from Friday to Saturday, please let us know! One of our amazing volunteers will be picking her up from the shelter around 4pm to bring her to the ball Saturday!

🐾 FOSTER NEEDED FOR RIHANNA! 🐾

We’re looking for a temporary foster for Rihanna, one of our incredible Leashing Hope dogs, so she can attend the 16th Annual Fur Ball this year! 🎉

Rihanna is currently part of our Leashing Hope program at the Bartlett Unit — where shelter dogs are paired with incarcerated veterans for two months of training, love, and transformation. She’ll be attending Fur Ball to represent the program and show just how powerful second chances can be. 💛

We need a mini foster for Rihanna from Thursday late afternoon (Nov 6) through Sunday afternoon (Nov 9) so she can enjoy her big night out and some time away from the shelter.

✨ What’s Fur Ball?
A Night of Second Chances and New Beginnings — our biggest night of the year! Join us for an elegant evening celebrating the connection between pets and people, and the community that helps make second chances possible.

📅 Saturday, November 8, 2025 | 6–10 PM
📍 Sheraton Hotel, Georgetown, TX
🎟️ Tickets & sponsorships: https://fansofwcras.ejoinme.org/furball2025

We’re also in need of fosters for medium to large dogs right now — even short-term! Our pups could really use a break from the shelter, and fostering can be for a day, a weekend, or a few weeks — there’s no minimum or maximum. Every break matters. 💕

If you can help foster Rihanna, please email [email protected] — you’ll be giving them the best gift of all: hope. 🐶❤️To foster another pup at the shelter, stop by today! They would love to meet you!

About our page

WCRAS accepts all animals from within our jurisdiction regardless of health, age, temperament whether there is space or not. Adoptions and owner reclaims are vital for the shelter to continue to save at least 90% of the animals that enter the shelter. Currently WCRAS has been saving 90% or more for over three years. We only euthanize for medical that no longer have a good quality of life, or for behavior issues that make the animal unsafe to place in a home. WCRAS also relies on donations to pay for all the medical illness and/or injuries that come into the shelter. Without that support, all these animals would have to be euthanized. Thank you for sharing the animals in need of homes and supporting WCRAS!
