He has the best manners around other dogs. He does well with children. Really likes pets from just about anyone.

That’s right, Cowboy—the name says it all. I’m a rootin’-tootin’ ball-chasin’, tail-waggin’ good boy lookin’ for my forever home. I'm ‘round 5 years young, weigh in at a sturdy 60 pounds of pure energy, and I come ready for the trail—neutered, up to date on them vaccines, and even got one of them fancy microchips so I don’t go gettin’ lost.

I’m housebroken, crate trained, and smart as a whip. I live for the thrill of the chase—ball that is. You throw it, I’ll bring it back, and we’ll keep doin’ that ‘til the cows come home. Got an empty backyard and a strong throwin’ arm? Well partner, we just might be soulmates.

Lookin’ for an agility buddy? Saddle me up! I thrive when I’ve got a job to do or a toy to chase.

Now here’s the thing—while I do just fine with other pups in a pack, when it comes to settlin’ into a home, I’d much rather have all the toys, treats, and attention to myself. I’m not well-suited for a home with kiddos either—I like my space when I’m chewin’ bones or enjoyin’ my treasures, and I’d do best with grown-ups who understand my breed and respect my boundaries.

Cats and other small critters? Can’t say one way or the other—I haven’t had the pleasure.

I’m currently kickin’ up dust in Sunbury, Ohio, and ready to meet the right partner for the ride of a lifetime.

Maverick is a healthy, affectionate, people pleasing dog. He is obedient and has had dog training. He is housebroken and very loyal. He enjoys playing outside, indoor toys, and bones. He plays with cats and dogs. If there is lose food (food that fell on the floor, he is food aggressive with other dogs).

Maverick would do best as an only dog with adults. He would benefit from someone familiar with blue heelers. He would do best in a fenced in yard. We have made this heartbreaking decision because we have been our son who we would not want to have to continue with living with a dog that aggresses toward him and we also have a granddaughter. We would not want anything to happen to either of them. We believe Maverick would be a terrific dog with the right owner.

Hello everyone! Meet pretty girl Lyla. She is originally a southern gal, that traveled north to her foster home in NY state from Georgia, and she is just about as sweet as a Georgia peach. Since Lyla arrived it is clear that she really loves being with people, anywhere we are she wants to be there too. If you let her, she would crawl onto your lap and soak up all the love you want to give. She honestly makes a great movie marathon partner all cozied up on the couch.
She immediately got along just fine with our more energetic young male dog and pays no attention to our small female dog. She will play with the male when he initiates it but is completely content to just lounge on the couch, lay on the deck in the sunshine or follow her foster mom around the house. Going for a car ride? She’s down for that too and likes to look around (but would literally crawl into your lap and be your bonus driver if she could).
Lyla did meet a set of human triplets that are a year old, gave a few investigative sniffs and then pretty much didn’t really pay them any mind. That said, she would probably feel more comfortable in a home without lots of small human noise and activity as she did seem a little overwhelmed when the triplets all started crying at once.
Lyla is house trained and crate trained. She goes into the crate like it’s no big deal and doesn’t fuss. She sleeps through the night on her own comfy dog bed next to our bed, and she’s not a crack of dawn riser. She will sleep in with you on the weekend if you want. Lyla would sleep right with you in bed if you invite her but doesn’t push the topic. She has just recently taken a liking to a llama stuffy and will sometimes use it as a pillow. Lyla is also very into treats and is food motivated making future training easy. She walks nice on a leash, doesn’t pull but could use some refining if you don’t want her zigzagging in front of you. Her recall isn’t 100% but it is pretty good considering. She also did great getting groomed at the pet store, even let the groomer do her nails! Lyla really is such an easygoing, sweet, friendly dog. Lyla does not need constant activity as is typical for most Cattle Dogs. She is on the lower end of the energy scale and would be perfectly happy with leisurely walks with her person.
She would love to find her forever home and be an amazing best friend ❤️
Lyla is currently taking medication to control some incontinence. The great part is that it is doing its job and while on it you would never know she briefly had a leaky faucet. She may need to be on it for a little bit, the vet thinks it is possible to take her off it at some point in the future.
We do not know how she is with cats or children over the age of 1 but has been very friendly to every dog and person she has met so far. She does like to keep the yard clear of squirrels though, they don’t get to hang around here, not on her watch.
Other than that, Lyla is up to date on all vetting, is microchipped and spayed.

Meet Pirate 🖤
Pirate is a sweet, gentle young adult (apx 2y/o) cattle dog whose past remains a mystery, but it's clear life wasn't always kind to him.

When Pirate and his brother landed in a shelter, his brother quickly found a foster home. Pirate wasn't so lucky. Overwhelmed and frightened, he shut down completely. He didn't want to move, didn't want to interact, and was simply trying to make himself invisible. Thankfully, his foster mom saw past the fear and knew he deserved a chance to decompress and discover what life could be.
Since joining ACDRA, Pirate has slowly begun to show us who he really is.

Beneath that timid exterior is a silly, playful young dog who desperately wants to trust. As he settles in and feels safe, his personality continues to emerge, revealing a sweet companion with a goofy side that's impossible not to love.

Pirate is looking for a calm, predictable home where he can continue building confidence at his own pace. A quieter household without young children would be ideal. He isn't the type of dog who needs excessive/constant activity or endless adventures—in fact, he's been perfectly content with a more relaxed lifestyle while he learns that good things happen when humans are around.

He currently lives in a home that has multiple cats and two male cattle dogs. He has shown positive interest in the other dogs and enjoys their company, though he would likely be equally happy as an only dog or with a well-matched canine companion.

Pirate's perfect family will understand that trust is earned, not rushed. They'll provide structure, routine, patience, and gentle guidance while celebrating the small victories that mean so much to a dog learning to feel safe.

If you're looking for a loyal companion, a quiet shadow, and a dog whose gratitude will be measured in the trust he slowly places in you, Pirate may be your perfect match.

Alfred has been dealt a pretty rough hand in life, but he doesn't let that get him down! Alfie loves everyone, however he has never been around little kids. Alf does great with dogs, he os generally respectful, yet loves to play. No cats in Alfreds retirement home, they are super fun to chase.

Alfred is an easy going guy, who is happy to accompany you on your daily errands, he loves riding in the car, hang with you on the front porch on a sunny summer day, or chill on the couch and watch a good movie! Alf walks great on a leash, and enjoys short leash walks to get in all the sniffs! Alfred has never lived with kids, a home with no kids or older kids is best, Alfred deserves a quiet retirement life!

Unfortunately Alfred was diagnosed with heartworm, which has been treated. Alf went a while with heartworm, because of this he does require daily medications for the rest of his life. Alfred will require an easy going home, no runs or strenuous hikes for this boy, but thats ok, he is happy with leisurely walks, and a little play time.

Rosemary is a 30 lb, ~11-month-old Australian Cattle Dog mix from Georgia with a bright personality and a big love for her people. She’s happy, curious, and full of classic cattle dog charm — including a little sass and some very entertaining hijinks.

In her foster home, Rosemary has been doing wonderfully. She is fully potty trained and crate trained, and she genuinely enjoys her crate. She sleeps quietly in it at night and relaxes there during the day while her foster family works.
Rosemary is playful and toy-motivated, especially when squeakers and stuffing are involved. She also loves belly rubs and is learning how to settle and snuggle at the end of the day. Outside, she’s content relaxing in the yard and watching the world go by.

Rosemary walks nicely on leash, though she can be leash reactive and vocal when first meeting new dogs. She is friendly and eager to play — she just tends to announce herself with some barking at introductions. She’ll do best with a family willing to continue helping her build confidence and practice calm greetings.

Rosemary will thrive in an active home that’s excited to keep her mind and body busy with walks, training, playtime, and enrichment. She would also do great with a fenced yard where she can safely zoom, explore, and then lounge in the grass keeping an eye on the neighborhood.

Introducing the incredible Elliott, a little cattle dog with the softest heart and gentlest soul. At 35 pounds of beautiful blue merle fur, this 10-12 month guy is ready to meet his family and settle into his forever home. He is fully house trained, crate trained (willing though not yet his favorite), neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and ready for adventure. He walks beautifully on a leash with no pulling and naturally stays right next to you, happy to move along or stop to meet any dog or person who wants to say hello. He is a true velcro dog and will be your shadow, both inside and out.

After arriving to his foster home in Vermont from Georgia, it was also discovered that Elliott is deaf! With his amazingly kind way of connecting with both people and dogs, nobody had even realized. Elliott is loving and attentive to his people, absolutely adores other dogs, is kind and submissive upon meeting them, and loves to play if they are up for it. He has been living with an older female foster sibling who is not interested in playing and he has been respectful of her. He happily lives with a child in his home and has met many kids in the neighborhood, with whom he is equally gentle and loving. He even went to a Memorial Day parade and was completely unfazed! He is learning signs, so far has mastered sit, and is working on stay and come.

Elliott would enjoy living with a playful sibling or could live as an only dog with regular playdates to get his puppy playtime. He is a true gem and cannot wait to meet his forever family.
