Trailer Loading Problems? Let’s Talk About It!
Did you know self-loading is a learned skill? A horse that willingly walks onto a trailer has learned to understand what’s being asked, respond to cues, and trust the process.
Does your horse stop at the ramp, back away, rush inside, or need a little extra help getting loaded? These behaviors can stem from fear, confusion, lack of experience, or not fully understanding what’s being asked.
Trailer loading shouldn’t have to be a battle. With consistent training, clear communication, and patience, horses can learn to approach and load into a trailer more willingly and independently.
At One Shot Performance Horses, we believe in teaching horses to understand the job rather than simply forcing them through it. The goal is better communication and a safer, less stressful experience for both horse and handler.
🐎 It’s not just about getting your horse in the trailer. It’s about teaching them to load willingly.
Question for our horse people: Would your horse walk onto a trailer by themselves, or would you be there for a while? 👀 Let us know in the comments! ⬇️
