A rare trip for Shady Grove to a one-day-fun-day at Moss Show Stables for a jump start on medal points. Thanks to the MSS team for getting classes filled!

🌤️ Kate LaVerde & Hytime are now qualified for all of the medal finals! We are now thinking of other fun ways to fill their dance card at shows this summer 😏

🌤️ Natalie Kiss & Van Kiki had their first show together and did amazing! They won the MHC Junior medal, and are now just a few pesky points away from qualifying for NEHC & MHJ. So proud of this girl power team! 💥 🎀

🌤️ Lila White & CMS Calimero acted like old pros in their 2’6” equitation rounds. Lila won a Children’s Eq o/f and got a pair of 2nds in her MHC & MHJ! 💙

🌤️ Eva Golden & Amor de Tortuga had some great trips in the 2’6” equitation as well, taking home Reserve Champion in the Children’s Eq and getting great points towards their goal of qualifying for MHC & MHJ finals! ❤️💛

Today we wrapped up a fun week at WEC Ohio! It was nice to venture out of New England and try a new venue. First show of the 2025 season is in the books!

Highlights below ⬇️

🎠 Cora Cotman Jenkins & Nemolino
▪️Children’s Eq: 5ths in both o/f & flat
▪️Children’s Hunter 15-17: 2nd, 7th, 6th, 5th, 4th & 8th in the classic
▪️And their first USHJA National Derby was one of the most fun derby rounds we have seen this pair do!

🎠 Kate LaVerde & Hytime
▪️THIS Adult Medal: 🥇
▪️Adult Eq: 4th & 4th out of a competitive group of 22 riders!
▪️A/O 3’3” Hunters: 🥇 in the handy, 3rd, 6th, 6th & 7th
▪️Their USHJA National Derby Classic round had one bobble but their handy round earned them a score of 84!

🎠 Lila White & CMS Calimero
▪️Low Child Hunter: 7th & 8th out of 22 horses
▪️Low Child Hunter Classic: 6th out of 17
▪️Low Child Eq: 8th out of 21
▪️$3,500 Non-Pro Hunter Derby 2’6” she was 6th place out of 35 riders!

🎠 Eva Golden & Amor de Tortuga
▪️USHJA 2’: 7th out of 27, 6th out of 37
▪️Children’s Pony Hunter 2’6”: 7th & 7th out of 16 riders, and took home 6th in the Classic
▪️Children’s Pony Eq 2’6”: 4th out of 11, and 🥈 out of 10

🎠 Rachel & Paige Violin’s horse “Most Wanted” took home 4th, 5th and 7th in the USHJA 2’9” out of 20 horses.

Bodhi and Casper had a fun field trip to the show and got some good schooling rounds in. Bodhi missed his Mom (Abby Violin) who sadly had to stay home last minute. But we made sure Bodhi got some good experience and time in the big show rings with Rachel, Charlotte & Kate!

Happy Holidays from the Shady Grove family! 🎄🍾🎁 Thank you Stacy & Skylar for hosting our annual party at your beautiful home. The food was delicious, the punch was strong and the Yankee Swap was rather tame this year…I guess everyone is still trying to make sure they get on Santa’s “Nice” List 🎅🏻

A Sunday well spent for our Shady Grove riders at the USHJA Zone 1 Clinic with Peter Wylde hosted at Orion Farm. Even those who weren’t riding came to support their fellow barn mates and learn by watching.

Abby Violin & Bodhi did the 3’ Equitation group, and Kate LaVerde & Stewart were in the 3’3” Equitation section. Both Abby and Kate rode beautifully and the boys were total pros. It was a honor to have Peter coach them for a day.

Thank you to the committee who organized this great event, and Orion Farm for hosting us at your beautiful facility! Excited to come back next year with more riders 😊

We had a spook-tacular Halloween party & costume contest tonight 🎃 👻 The creativity and craftsmanship of these costumes never fail to amaze us each year! The kiddos even enjoyed a fun relay race after some delicious pizza & snacks. Thank you all for participating!

That’s a wrap on NEEC 2024! Kate & Stewart put in a solid effort over their medal course with only one, small moment keeping their score down. Special thanks to Jordan Lovitz & Charlotte Lyon for coming to groom! We love having our college (and post college) family to help 😊

A few days of rest and then we are off to Kentucky for THIS Finals!

MHC Finals 2024 is a wrap! ✅

Congratulations, Paige Violin, for placing Top Twenty out of 57 riders in today’s Mini Medal Final on a horse (yes, a full size…very large…HORSE) that she had only ridden 3 times! When her usual pony partner in crime couldn’t attend the Finals this year, the Cotman family kindly offered Paige the ride on their big, bay dog, Nemolino. If you know, you know how hard the transition from a pony to a horse can be! We are so proud of this young rider’s poise and professionalism in the stirrups and are so thankful for horses like Nemo and friends like the Cotmans!!

A big THANK YOU to our team both at the show and back at home for keeping things running so smoothly. Siobhan Moloney, for her incredible grooming skills and Jordan Lovitz, for taking over things at home so that our beloved, Andre, could go on a well deserved vacation!! This would not be possible without you all 💙
