A mobile clinic in SEK would increase our community's access to low-cost, spay, neuter and vaccination services! We will be supporting SEK Animal Advocates initiative and hope others and Bourbon County will as well.

We’re building something BIG for the animals of Southeast Kansas 🐾

SEK Animal Advocates is working to launch a mobile spay & neuter clinic to bring affordable, accessible care directly to our community. Every day, we see the effects of overpopulation—unwanted litters, overcrowded shelters, and animals struggling to survive.

This clinic will allow us to:
✨ Prevent unwanted litters
✨ Reduce shelter intake and euthanasia
✨ Provide low-cost services to families in need
✨ Reach rural areas with little to no access to care

We’ve found the perfect trailer—now we just need your help to make it fully operational. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to turn this into a life-saving resource.

Every dollar makes a difference. Every share helps us get closer.
Together, we can change the future for so many animals 💙

Please have a plan for your pets and animals you care for regardless of your age and health. Families reaching out looking for placement as their relatives have passed or are moving into assisted care are becoming more and more frequent.

Please consider donating to SEK Animal Advocates to address this large volume intake of 30 cats after their caretaker passed away.

Over the course of the weekend, we received an urgent call about a heartbreaking situation involving several cats. A woman had tragically passed away, and her family put all of her cats outside. She had also been feeding community cats, and with temperatures rapidly dropping, we knew we couldn’t leave them to fend for themselves.

Our volunteers immediately headed out with traps, crates, cozy blankets, and wet food to help lure these scared cats to safety and give them a chance at a new beginning.
• Night 1: 19 cats rescued
• Night 2: 4 more
• Night 3: 6 more

That brings the total to 30 cats removed from the property. Thankfully, two rescue partners stepped up to help take some in - but this still leaves us with far more cats than we ever planned for.

We simply couldn’t leave them out there to freeze or be discarded like trash.

Because of this unexpected intake, we are now in urgent need of funding and supplies to support our fosters and properly care for these cats. That means:
• Litter
• Cat food
• Vetting
• Spay/neuter surgeries

Earlier this year, we were incredibly grateful to receive a grant that allowed us to fund TNR and low-cost spay/neuter services for eligible families. Unfortunately, those funds have now been completely exhausted.

How you can help:

🐾 Donate! every single dollar truly makes a difference
🐾 Donate supplies! cat food and litter are desperately needed
🐾 Plan ahead! please make sure your pets are protected in the event of illness, hospitalization, or passing

We so often assume family will step in to care for our animals - but tragically, many times they don’t. We see it far too often, and the animals are the ones who pay the price.

Thank you for standing with us, supporting our volunteers, and helping us give these cats the safety and dignity they deserve. ❤️🐾

Update******Retirement Home Secured****
Abby has been adopted by a neighbor

Meet Abby, she is 10 years old and is looking for a sweet retirement gig. Abby lost her furry BFF a couple of years ago and now her human has also passed away. Her golden years just aren't turning out quite the way she had expected.

Abby had been an indoor outdoor dog most of her life but she'd love to have a warm spot indoors. She's a bit shy at first but who wouldn't be after losing your pal and your people!

Typically ladies don't like to talk about their weight and height, but Abby said if it'll help her get a home she's an open book. She's a medium-sized dog and weighs 40 lbs.

Abby is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and her monthly flea and tick meds.

If you think you could host Abby's golden years, please message us. She is not in our care but we can put you in touch. If you don't have space in your home, please share her post so we can find this gal the sweet retirement gig she deserves!

And as a note to all, please have plans in place for your pets should you beat them to the rainbow bridge.
