🚨 Clear the Shelters THIS Saturday Aug. 23rd 12-5PM - $10 Adoption Event 🚨

Intakes are outnumbering adoptions and we are running out of places to keep all of the cats and dogs that are coming in, and on top of that they are waiting longer to find homes. On average, dogs here wait 90 days - thats three long months, alone, in a kennel. Cats wait around 40 days - more than a month. But we have some pets that have been waiting over a year for a home. They need you now!

Clear the Shelters Adoption Event

$10 Adoptions(exclusions apply)

✨ Every adoption includes:
✔️ Vaccinations (age-appropriate)
✔️ Flea/tick preventative
✔️ Complimentary bag of food

REMINDERS:
- Dog adopters: A supervised meet & greet is required with any dogs in your home. (Cats are not required for meet & greets.)

- All household members will need to meet the pet you plan to adopt so be sure to bring everyone with you especially if you are traveling long distances.

Gus is losing himself in the shelter. 💔

For four years, Gus tried to fit into a life that wasn’t built for him. He grew up in a busy home with other animals and constant commotion, and though he tried again and again, it was never quite the right fit.

Now Gus, a 4-and-a-half-year-old cattle dog mix, sits in a kennel, and every day he struggles more. This is not who he is meant to be. Gus is a working dog with a sharp mind, a big heart, and a deep need for purpose. In the shelter, with no one to call his own, he is fading.

What Gus needs is not ordinary, but neither is he. His perfect match is someone who understands working dogs and can offer a pet-free, adult-only home. In return, Gus gives his whole heart. He’s housebroken, crate trained, and even enjoys bath time with a little peanut butter bribery. He loves chasing his flirt pole, and we’ll send his favorite one home with him. Give him a job to do, whether it’s walking on the treadmill, tackling a puzzle game, or joining you on a new adventure, and he lights up.

But Gus cannot wait much longer. The shelter is no place for a dog like him, and every day without a purpose makes him decline further. He deserves more than this. He deserves his person.

After six years in a loving home, Remy unexpectedly found himself at HSHC, but this handsome 6-year-old grey-and-white guy isn’t ready to give up on his forever home. And while he waits, he’s happy to charm his way into the heart of anyone who passes by with a tasty treat. 💙

While he appreciates a good meal, Remy isn’t just a snack enthusiast. He’s a fun, active cat with a healthy obsession with squeaky toys. He’s looking for a home where he can stretch his mind, chase a laser pointer, and think through the challenge of a nice puzzle feeder every once in a while.

Remy was happy to spend his time with the children in his past home, and he wouldn’t mind sharing his new home with a few younger human friends. Especially if they’re willing to share their snacks! His owner could no longer care for him, and suddenly this fun-loving, loyal boy was left at the shelter, confused, heartbroken, and wondering where his family had gone.
