The Halloween adoptions are coming in and we love to see it! 🎃 We're so happy for everyone who found their family over the past few days.

There are still so many more here waiting for their person, and this weekend is a great time to come find them. Through November 1st, adoption fees for pets who have been with us 31 days or more are just $31 (pets 6 months and under are not included). Look for the ghost on their kennel when you come in. We’re open 12–5 pm Thursday through Tuesday, and 5–7 pm on Wednesdays.

Piper Is Ready to Spread Her Wings 🦋

Our sweet Piper put on her butterfly wings for Halloween weekend, and she might be the cutest butterfly you’ll ever see! Our staff love her, our volunteers love her, and her foster absolutely adores her. Everyone here is Team Piper! She has been with us since May 2023, longer than any other dog at HSHC, and no one has waited more patiently for her turn.

Piper is a 5-year-old, 63-pound sweetheart who is fully house trained (she’ll even go potty on cue!) and crate trained. She spent two months as an office dog here and never once begged or went after the snacks on our desks. She loves a good game of fetch or tug, takes treats so gently that she just opens her mouth and waits, and her fosters say she’s the most loving dog at home, plus a world-class bed hog. 🎃

Piper would love to be your one and only, so no other dogs or cats, and she’s a perfect fit for a home with adults or teens 16 and up. Her adopter even gets free training lessons to start things off right. On top of that, her adoption fee has been waived!

Shelter life is a lot for a homebody like Piper, and she is so worth the wait. She’s here at HSHC and we’re open all weekend from 12 to 5 pm, so stop by and ask about Piper! 💕

Every day our felines wait behind their kennel doors, the more it feels like they're turning invisible. No one asks to visit. No one submits an application. And it feels like no one's even spared them a glance in far too long.

365 Days... and Kourt Is Still Waiting for Someone to Choose Her 💔

Kourt was just a 1-year-old pup when she came to HSHC. Tomorrow, she hits one full year with us, which means this sweet girl has now spent half of her life being ghosted while she watched other dogs go home.

She’s taking a break from the kennel in a foster home right now, soaking up every bit of couch time she can get! But foster is only a stop along the way, and Kourt is ready for a family to call her own.

This 2-year-old, 41-pound girl just finished her training at PetSuites Indianapolis - Fishers, where she worked on her sit, down, touch, and come, and she would love an adopter who enjoys keeping those lessons going. She’s housebroken and always happy to hop in the car. When she wants some love, she plops right down on your feet until the scratches start. Kourt is hoping for a cat-free home with teens 16 and up, and if you have a dog, our team will help with the introduction to make sure it’s a great fit.

THE MUFFIN MAN?!? THE MUFFIN MAN!!! 🐾🧁

If you don't get the Shrek reference, you're missing out... but seriously, this adorable little 6-year-old feline is ready to start his next chapter in a home full of love and the potential to steal your baked goods if he's lucky.

The Muffin Man came to us as a stray not too long ago, so we don't know much about his past with young children or with other animals.🏡💕 During his stay at the shelter, we have noticed that he can be a little overstimulated by too much attention, so we think he would do best in a home where he can be a little more independent.

He's not asking for much, just a sunny window and the chance to prove that he has what it takes to become the most loyal lap cat you've ever met. 🐾💕

We know work schedules, school, family, and life can make it difficult to visit during traditional daytime hours. So, we're opening for adoptions every Wednesday evening to create another opportunity for our community to meet the incredible animals waiting for homes — and another opportunity for those animals to find their families.

More hours = More homes-- and more chances to fall in love.😻 And right now we have an adoption special going on that you won't want to miss! So You’re Telling Me There’s A Chance? 🎬

There is, and it comes with the funniest comedy duo in the building! Kane and Chase dressed up as Harry and Lloyd for their photoshoot, and they played the part perfectly. Just like their characters, these brothers are a pair of natural-born comedians who keep everyone around them laughing. Swipe for the outtakes, too. These two had us cracking up so hard behind the camera that we couldn’t leave the bloopers out. 😂

At 3 years old and about 72 pounds, Kane plays Lloyd, the one with the big plans. He’s always first to march right up and check out anything new. Chase, at 2 years old and around 66 pounds, plays Harry. He’s the sweet one who feels braver with his big brother by his side.

Their best bit is a game of tug, and they don’t need you on the other end. They’d rather grab the same toy and run laps around the yard together. They’re a bonded pair, so they’ll be going home together. They aren’t joined at the hip, either. Each brother is perfectly happy to wander off with a favorite toy or a special treat for a little time to himself.

Both passed their cat tests, so a calm kitty could work with slow introductions. If you have a pup at home, bring them to HSHC and our team will help with the meet and greet. The brothers are looking for a home with teens 14 and up. They’re both crate-trained and do best with a steady potty routine.

Somewhere out there is a family with room for both of them, and we’re telling you there’s a chance it’s yours. 🧡

117 days... No applications... Rainy needs someone to prove she's still worth loving. 💔

At 12 years old, Rainy's entire world has turned upside down, and now she's been left wondering if she is still deserving of love. This senior sweetheart still has so much joy and affection to share... she just needs the right human to share her love with. 🐾💕

In her glory days, Rainy was a playful but relaxed companion who could coexist peacefully with other dogs and cats in the home. Now, she has extensive experience as a quiet house cat, and she's looking for a home where she can spend her retirement days in pure bliss. 🏡💕 She still likes playing with toys from time to time, enjoys a nice sprinkling of catnip, and remains especially fond of lounging on the couch.

You may have noticed that Rainy has some clouding in her eyes. Thankfully, after an assessment by our medical staff, we have determined that she can see and the condition is not causing her pain. ❤️‍🩹 At this time, her eyes do not require any treatment. All she needs is a home full of love and comforting companionship.
