Meet Duke & Lady – Two Sweet Hounds Looking for Their Forever Homes!🐶🐶
Approximately 30 days ago, one of our veterinarians at Seventy First Animal Hospital rescued two beautiful hounds who had been found roaming in the Parkton, North Carolina area.
After completing the required 10-day stray hold with no owners coming forward, our team took both dogs under our care to ensure they received the medical attention they needed.
Their medical care has included:💉
· Comprehensive blood work, f***l examinations, and urinalysis, all within normal limits.
· Heartworm testing, with both dogs testing negative.
· Routine deworming.
· ProHeart 12 injectable heartworm prevention, providing 12 months of protection.
· Bravecto Quantum injectable flea and tick prevention.
· Treatment for ear infections, which are cleared up now.
· Spay and neuter surgeries, completed Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
Meet Duke: Our handsome black-and-white male hound! Duke is full of energy, playful, affectionate, and always ready for an adventure. He's like a 3-year-old toddler at heart.
Meet Lady: Our beautiful liver-and-white female hound! Lady is incredibly sweet, loving, energetic, loves sunbathing and eager for attention. Snuggling is one of her other favorite things to do AFTER she has been able to release some of her energy.
Both dogs appear to be approximately two years old or younger and have wonderful personalities. They are extremely affectionate and would benefit from some basic training, structure, and plenty of opportunities to exercise and socialize.
Our biggest concern right now is finding them a more suitable living environment.
For the past month, Duke and Lady have been living in kennels at our veterinary hospital. Although our team has done everything possible to provide them with love, attention, and excellent medical care, a busy veterinary hospital simply cannot offer the consistent companionship, exercise, and outdoor playtime that two young, energetic hounds desperately need.
Unfortunately, their prolonged kennel confinement and high energy levels have made it necessary to provide medication to help manage their stress and restlessness.
Duke and Lady deserve more than life inside a kennel. They deserve room to run, people to love, and the opportunity to simply be happy, playful dogs.
We are desperately hoping to find a rescue organization, foster family, or loving permanent home willing to give these two wonderful dogs the attention, patience, and care they deserve.
Our team has invested a tremendous amount of time, love, and medical resources into giving Duke and Lady a second chance. Now, we are hoping someone can help us give them the happy ending they deserve.
