This sweet, sensitive 2‑year‑old is looking for a calm, patient foster to help him continue to blossom. He’s a small, shy/fearful dog who has made real progress with our Center staff — slow tail wags, following them around and growing curious about the world around him.
He just needs someone who will let him go at his own pace, without pressure, and give him the space to feel safe.

Remember Chained Mom and her heartbreaking loss last week? 💔

Today, we get to share JOY.

Meet Caroline 🌸 — no longer "Chained Mom" — and her miracle baby Chester 🐾 They arrived safe in our foster home yesterday!

After what felt like forever making sure they were healthy enough to travel, we FINALLY got to hold them for real. Those cuddles hit different.

HELP!!!! Tied up in the woods pregnant and left for dead...

Argh. This girl was literally found with her boyfriend tied up in the woods to trees on chains with no food or water. Left to die? Left hoping someone would miraculously find them? We do not know but we are angry....and yet we have no time to really dwell in our anger.

Miss Piggy is PREGNANT and needs a foster immediately so she does not have to give birth in the shelter.

A tiny girl at only 30 lbs., she is said to be very friendly and social - like the "real" Miss Piggy.

This girl has had a horrible life and we desperately want to put it behind her.

Can you foster her and her newborn pups when they arrive starting asap?? Our magical Doula Squad will support you every step of the way.

Good with Kids? He has not met any children yet but we have no reason to believe he wouldn't love them too.

Good with Dogs? He seems to be a little picky about his dog friends so we would want any potential canine roommate(s) to meet him before he moves in.

ABOUT THIS DOG: This handsome fella recently came to Homeward Trails after having a pretty rough go of it. Despite it all, he has shown us that he is just a happy-go-lucky guy that wants nothing more than to lounge around. This handsome lug is basically a weighted blanket with legs: warm, comforting, and always down for a long, luxurious lounge session. He’s got a big head, a bigger heart, and a sweet, gentle disposition that makes everyone who meets him instantly smitten. With the Adoption Center closing next week (5/31), we would really prefer to see this gentleman move back into a home.

Good with cats? Fox has met cats and the Farm and we think he will need someone who is familiar with dog and cat intros. He was very excited and will need to learn how to greet them properly.

ABOUT THIS DOG: Fox is an absolute sweetheart with a soft, gentle nature. He truly loves people and leans into attention, soaking up pets and closeness like he’s been waiting for it.

He’s a very loving, wonderful pup who just wants to be someone’s companion. Fox forms deep bonds with his people and will happily stay close by your side, enjoying every bit of affection he can get.

ABOUT THIS DOG: Johnny is a newer friend to the HT farm, he has settled in very well and is starting to understand his new (unfortunate) situation. He LOVES to snuggle, our staff simply sits in the field or kennel with him and he happily curls up in your lap. He gives gentle kisses and even walks pretty well on a leash for his age and background! He is so kind and we think he would do wonderfully in most any home.

WE ARE COMPLETELY OUT OF PUPPY FOOD.

Dry food: GONE. Wet food: GONE. Puppy Pads--- NONE
Our bowls are empty and we need your help NOW to restock for the babies in our care!

Puppies eat 3-4x a day and we go through food FAST. Without donations, we can’t feed them or bring more into our care. We need it ASAP.

UPDATE - Starving mom and pup rescue.

Friday was a very, very hard day for our rescue partners who do the very hard work of replying to urgent calls in real time when we are not in town to do it ourselves.

Finding three dead puppies is not something we ever want to encounter - to have to ponder their suffering and push it down to focus on the lifesaving we must do for those surviving.

Thankfully we got mom to the vet immediately for care. She obviously was found to be very malnourished, sick and suffering from an abscessed tooth on top of everything. Despite it all, she was gentle with the vet and kind, as if she knew her days tied outside giving birth and watching her puppies die were over. AND THEY ARE. We've named her Caroline.

Her one pup still struggles as he barely survived. Full of worms, dehydrated and suffering near hypothermia from the cold rain he was warmed up, cleaned up and given medical attention. We've named in Grayson.

We have them both safe and warm now. We got them vaccinated and will monitor them ongoing. They have a tough road ahead.

We will also be in touch with local authorities about this preventable situation and the deaths that should not have happened. Thankfully, our wonderful vet partner in the area took copious notes and we know this did not need to happen.

We thank you, as always, for allowing us to jump in to get this family the emergency medical care they needed and to provide them with the ongoing support they will need to recover. We could not do this life saving without you. YOU make it happen.

Both will need foster and adoptive homes as soon as they are healthy enough to travel.
