Hi all, just a friendly reminder that black fly season is upon us again!
Black fly bites show up as red, circular lesions, usually on the belly and groin.
These lesions are often mistaken for the "bullseye" ring that can sometimes be seen with tick bites or mistaken for ringworm.
While the bites can be mildly itchy, they usually resolve on their own.
As always, if you see lesions on your dog that you are concerned about, please call the office, or send us a picture.

In honor of Memorial Day, our hospital will be closed on Monday, May 25th.

Ellen has been at BCAH for 18 years and today was her last day. I'm not sure how we'll survive without her but she has certainly earned her retirement

As we head into the warmer months, and mosquito season, here are some things to know about Heartworm: The Parasite.
It sounds like a scary movie, and these parasites can be scary for your pets. We recommend year round prevention, but if you stopped for the winter, now is the time to start again.
