Reintroducing our Team! Meet Heather! 🐾

Certified Veterinary Nurse, Client Service Representative, & Manager

Heather is our jack of all trades! She is a certified veterinary nurse, a client service representative, and a manager. She has been a veterinary nurse for eleven years, starting in general practice, then dermatology, ophthalmology, and finally holistic here with us. Heather has a dog named Chief, two cats, Teddy and Pip, and a fluffy chinchilla named Snowball and lots of reptiles (7 snakes and 5 geckos). A fun fact about Heather is that she practices Appalachian Folk Magic (Western Herbs)! In her free time, Heather enjoys gardening, foraging, restoring old furniture, and spending time with her son and husband.

May is National Pet Month! 🐾♥️

While you may feel like every month is pet month at your house, this special designation was created specifically to promote the benefits of responsible pet ownership, support pet adoption and shine a light on the work of service animals. Some great ways to celebrate include:

Adopt a pet – We have many great local shelters and rescues with loving cats and dogs needing homes, and you can also check Petfinder and see who is available for adoption near you.

Support your local shelter – If you can’t adopt, consider donating money, food, or supplies, which are always desperately needed by these organizations. You might also want to volunteer your time if you’re able.

Look into volunteering with a service dog organization – always looking for puppy raisers to teach the basics to guide dogs in training.

Make sure your pet is up to date on preventive care – Vaccinations, parasite protection, and a wellness exam are great ways to ensure your pet stays healthy and that we catch any problems early. Let us know if we can help with that—just give us a call!

Reintroducing Dr. Deidre Bean! 🐾

Dr. Bean earned her DVM degree from Kansas State University in 2024 and joined the Veterinary Wellness Center team the same year. Growing up in beautiful Raleigh, North Carolina, Dr. Bean’s early love of animals was cemented when she got her first job at a veterinary clinic at age 16. Her favorite thing about being a veterinarian is connecting with pet owners through their love of animals and strengthening and supporting the human-animal bond. Dr. Bean’s professional interests include preventative and integrative medicine, dentistry, and dermatology. She is Fear Free certified, a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the New Hampshire Veterinary Medical Association, and holds a Master’s in Public Health.

Dr. Bean shares her home with her partner Ryan, a senior biomedical technician, and their two children, Emersen and Wyatt. Their pets include Boone, a German Shepherd with particularly large ears that are highly tuned to the word “walk,” and Lou, a domestic medium-hair cat whose hobbies include lounging in the sunshine and teasing Boone, and the newest addition a Newfoundland named Bailey! She enjoys horseback riding, photography, cooking and gardening, and exploring the local area with her family in her free time.
