This is a hard post to write.
We’ve made the decision to close Barks and Brews due to the closure of Voodoo.
What started as an idea turned into something real because of this community. You showed up, you supported us, you trusted us with your time — and in many cases, your dogs.
We are so thankful for every person who walked through our doors, every staff member who gave their all, and every moment we shared together.
Thank you for being part of our story. 🐾🍻
Erie, this one hurts.
After 10 years of pouring beers, hosting game day crowds, serving late night plates, and being part of downtown’s rhythm, we’ve made the decision not to renew our lease at the Boston Store. This Sunday, January 11, from 11AM to 6PM will be our last day behind the bar.
We didn’t get here easily, and we’re not walking away casually. The craft beer world and the restaurant industry have shifted, and so have we. Voodoo is continuing to evolve toward what we do best, which is making beer and getting it into more hands in more places, focusing on manufacturing and shifting pub and restaurant management to the Voodoo Franchise Group.
We wanted to keep the pub alive by bringing it into our growing franchise restaurant family, run by a local partner who shared our vision. We came close. We ran out of time. The right partnership didn’t land soon enough.
This building became so much more than a pub. It became a pregame stop before Otters and Seawolves games, a meetup before shows at the Warner, a familiar counter on a downtown night, a first beer for some, a weekly beer for many. Erie supported us, and we felt it.
To our employee-owners, both past and present, thank you. You made this place what it was. We are actively working to help every current employee find their next opportunity.
To our customers, thank you for showing up, for sticking with us, for cheering us on, for giving us reason to keep creating.
We invite the community to join us for one last beer at the Boston Store. Stop in, share a story, raise a glass with us, and let’s celebrate 10 years the right way.
Thank you, Erie. We are proud to have served you.
