Yes, I washed and sanitized my hands immediately after the burial.

Yes, it’s legal to bury an American Robin on your property (and I notified the owners of the house I’m sitting in about every step of the process and where I ended up burying her in the woods).

No, I did not touch the babies.

YES, I sobbed the ENTIRE time.

Also 👀 anyone else curious about the bird chirps being auto translated to another language towards the end??? 😳

🚨 UPDATE: I now understand they may have been too young to be fully on their own. I am still learning about birds. I understand, in hindsight, that I maybe should have contacted a local bird rehab for the babies, but, with them all hopping the nest at once, I assumed this was the natural progression.. I didn’t know otherwise. 😔 By the time I got the one baby down from being tangled, the other had already hopped off. I did the best I could and know better now, in case this ever happens again. PLEASE DON’T COME FOR ME 🥺🥺🥺

When a dog returns to the shelter, it can feel incredibly defeating for our staff. Our team is so thoughtful about every placement but sometimes a dog’s true instincts can be underestimated.

Explaining Kodiak’s needs can be simple. He loves meeting people, he is playful with other animals, and he knows all of the basic commands.

True to his breed, Kodiak can and will escape a yard if left unattended. The best advice we give to adopters, is simply supervision. If this opportunist is given the structure needed, he will surely be the best addition to a loving family.
