# # # Old Barn Taxidermy Bear Tip of the Day 🐻

Proper care of your bear hide is crucial for preserving it from your hunt to the taxidermy shop. Here are some essential tips to keep in mind:

1. Avoid Rolling Your Bear: Do not roll your bear hide and freeze it. This method traps heat inside, prolonging the freezing process and increasing the risk of bacteria growth, which can lead to slippages.

2. Bag It Right: Slide your bear into your bag with the head facing upwards. If necessary, you can fold it loosely, ensuring better air circulation.

3. Cape the Head: If possible, have your outfitter cape the head out before freezing. If not, that's fine—just make sure to freeze your hide quickly.

4. Freeze Immediately: Once you’re home, place your bear hide in a freezer set to at least 0°F (-18°C) immediately.
