Another one of our amazing team members! We will miss you Kayla and you’ll do so many great things!

🎓 Student Spotlight: Kayla Braseth
Future Veterinary Technician • Minnesota North College

From the start, Kayla always knew her heart belonged with animals. Her inspiration for becoming a veterinary technician is simple but powerful: helping animals in need. “If there is any way I can help,” she says, “I am there.”

🐾 Growing Through the Program
Since beginning the Vet Tech program, Kayla has seen her confidence grow significantly. “I still have so much to learn,” she admits, “but I have grown so much already.”

Her favorite experience so far? Surgery class. Even though it was intimidating at first, Kayla says hands-on learning is where she thrives — and surgery pushed her to challenge herself in the best way.

💉 Program Experience
Kayla is especially proud of how far she’s come with IV catheter placement and intubation — skills she once found daunting. She credits the incredible instructors in the program, each of whom supported her in different, meaningful ways.

🐶 Personal Highlights
Her favorite animals to work with? Puppies, of course!
One moment she’ll never forget: watching her assigned rat learn how to roll in his ball for the first time — a surprisingly adorable milestone.

If she had to describe her vet tech journey in three words, Kayla says it’s been:
Rewarding. Challenging. Eventful.

🌟 Looking Toward the Future
After graduation, Kayla hopes to work in a small animal clinic, but she also has her eye on the exciting world of zoo medicine. She’s especially eager to work with exotic and zoo species and hopes to help as many animals as possible throughout her career.

💬 Advice for Incoming Vet Tech Students
Don’t give up. The first year is tough, but it truly does get easier.

It’s not supposed to be easy — and that’s okay.

What kept her going? “I’m stubborn,” she says — and that determination has carried her far.

We’re so proud of Kayla’s hard work, dedication, and heart for animals. The future is bright — full of puppies and the countless lives she’ll help change. 🐾💙

We’ve loved having Maddie as a part of our team and will be so sad to see her leave. We’re so proud of her!

🎓 Student Spotlight: Maddie Dahl
Future Veterinary Technician • Minnesota North College

Maddie’s love for animals and her upbringing on a ranch inspired her to pursue a career as a Veterinary Technician. She always knew she wanted her career to revolve around large animals, and the Vet Tech program has helped her turn that passion into a profession.

🏇 Her Journey Through the Program
Maddie has grown much more confident since starting the program, especially with giving injections and restraining small animals. Her favorite class has been Large Animal Nursing, where she gets to work with horses and cows — skills she can take back to her family’s ranch and future career.

💼 Program Experience
She’s especially proud of her progress with large animal radiographs. While she’s still perfecting her technique, she loves the hands-on learning and feels the program has prepared her with the essential skills to succeed in real-world veterinary settings. Maddie appreciates the guidance of all her instructors, each of whom has had a meaningful impact on her growth.

🐴 Personal Highlights
Her favorite animals to work with? Horses, of course!

If she had to describe her vet tech experience in three words, Maddie chooses: Enlightening. Challenging. Collaborative.

🚀 Looking Ahead
After graduation, Maddie hopes to work in an equine specialty clinic and is most excited to continue exploring equine medicine. Her biggest goal as a future Licensed Veterinary Technician is to keep growing, learning, and mastering her skills.

💬 Advice for New Vet Tech Students
“It’s completely normal to feel nervous about something new, but you won’t know what you’re capable of until you try. You might just surprise yourself.”

Maddie also notes that the program requires a lot of textbooks, but staying motivated is easy when you have an amazing job waiting for you at the end.

We’re so proud of Maddie’s dedication, passion, and growth in large animal care. Her future as a skilled and compassionate veterinary technician is bright! 🩺💙

Intake week 1.🩷

20 cats taken in today from our orange cat project. 🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱

These kiddos will stay with us until the humane society has room to intake them, for now we will do supportive care. Once they’re moved we will go back for more.

*None of these cats or kittens will be adopted through us. *

Thank you everyone who’s sent food and litter, they’re all shut down right now but I’m sure thankful for the warm environment.

Queen tuna still is looking for her forever home!

Tuna hotdish needs a home!

This gal has feisty but fun personality. She is a queen and wants to be the only cat of the home.
No dogs and no other cats.
Likely no small kiddos as she doesn’t enjoy chaos and doesn’t enjoy being handled.
She’s very social and friendly to humans. Loves to sit on a fluffy bed and watch the birds outside.

We want to clear the air on our orange cat’s project.

First, the goal is to have all these cats moved down to the Animal Humane Society. They are used to large projects like this, they have the resources, space and vets on hand. We are extremely supportive of them and thankful for them stepping up.

Second, we have decided we will not be adopting any of these cats or kittens out.

What will we do:

Gather the sickly, and small kittens first. Get them into our building, & supportive care. They will be then moved down to the cities, and again go get more, fill our kennels, supportive care, and continue the cycle until most to all are gone off the property.

We are sorry for the confusion but these complex projects are ever changing and we have to adjust accordingly as we go. The cats appeared healthier than they are, unfortunately.

Please stop sending anger to those of us trying to help the situation, instead remind others to spay & neuter their pets.

We are a small organization and our focus is the animals. We do our best with communication and social media but please understand we have limited people and this is the busy holiday season.
