🎉🐈⬛ 8 cats successfully spayed & neutered today from the colony of 30 cats. 1 of the 4 locations in Gilmer county we’ve been working to TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return). 15 more to TNR from this crew!🎉🐈⬛
Some of these cats are younger 7-8 months old. 7 of the 8 cats were easy enough to scruff gently to pull out of the trap and place into the carriers. One even allowed to be pilled with medication!😀 But they are by no means lap cats! They are cautious and VERY timid. Though, at the vet office, the staff reported some extra hissssssy “catitudes.” Naughty babies! We’re vawry scawry, they said!😅Appreciate and thank your vet clinic for putting up with TNR shenanigans! Patience is definitely their virtue.
One of the 8 is special needs. Davey, a VERY timid mini-panther. The vet thinks partially blind and may lead to fully blind.😔 A life outside would be unfair. He NEEDS a calm, quiet home that would give him extra time & patience to gain his trust, or even if have an enclosed sunroom/patio/porch to spend his days basking in the sun in peace & safety.🐈⬛❤️
2 other cats have health concerns. Marco (8 months old) will need his right eye removed due to damages from eye infection. Cali (3-4 yrs old) is having x-rays to verify abdominal hernia, ensuring nothing major.😮
TNR is beneficial. Feral, semi-feral, or tame cat colonies develop many health issues when unfixed & constantly breeding. It becomes overwhelming for caregivers to provide for evergrowing colonies, especially when the cats/kittens become more skittish/feral. No touchy, means no medicating. Many cat colonies, when fixed, can live happy, healthy lives. Feral but fixed—easier for caregivers to manage, keeps neighbors sane, and the cats content.😉
Whew, TNR completed for today. We use low-cost spay/neuter programs, but sometimes like today, unexpected bills happen. This is what your donations go towards. THANK YOU!!!🥰
Look through the pictures of these gorgeous cats. If feel up to the honor and opportunity of taming these tigers into little tiggers, reach out! Or if you would like to provide a safe outdoor haven to some semi-tame(not quite semi-feral) barn cats, reach out!
