We support Edgewater, New Smyrna Beach, South Daytona, Ormond Beach, Ponce Inlet and Volusia County. Edgewater Animal Shelter is a local non-profit organization that takes in unwanted and stray pets. Provides needed medical care and finds homes or appropriate rescues. We also provide low-cost veterinary care, shot clinics and medications.

Meet Nala, an 8-year-old senior girl who deserves something very simple now: a soft place to land and people who mean it.

Nala lived with a family and was returned to the shelter as a senior. That’s a rough reset for any dog, especially one who had already spent years believing she was home.

She’s energetic, housetrained, affectionate, and has that excellent senior-dog combination of personality plus life experience. She would do best with children 10+, and she is dog selective, so any canine roommate would need to be the right match.

Nala is part of our Silver Paws program, in conjunction with Sophie's Circle Dog Rescue, and her adoption is sponsored for an approved adopter. That means the focus is exactly where it should be: finding her the right home.

Senior dogs do not become less deserving because their circumstances change.

All dog adoptions include:

Meet Skeeter, a 6-year-old, 68-pound black Lab mix who somehow managed to come with nearly the entire “good dog” checklist already completed.

Skeeter came in as a stray and, sadly, no one came back for him. Their loss, because this guy is an absolute catch.

He is:

🐾 Good with dogs
🐾 Good with cats
🐾 Good with kids 5+
🐾 Housetrained
🐾 Knows basic commands
🐾 Currently in training
🐾 Loves playing ball
🐾 Very serious about belly rubs

At six, Skeeter is past the tiny-land-shark stage but still has plenty of energy for walks, playtime, adventures, and whatever ridiculous game involves you throwing the same ball 47 times.

He’s handsome, social, trained, and apparently has references from every species.

Skeeter’s adoption fee is $150.

If you’re looking for a dog who can actually move into your life without immediately trying to dismantle it, Skeeter would very much like to submit his application. ❤️

Magnolia is just over a year old, 57 pounds, and one of those dogs who is simply easy to like.

She came to us as a stray, and somehow no one came looking for her. Their loss.

Magnolia is social, energetic, curious, and loves going for walks. She enjoys other dogs and has shown curiosity about cats without being aggressive. She is still young, so she has plenty of energy and would do best with a family that keeps her active and involved.

She’s affectionate, friendly, and just a really good dog.

Magnolia is ready to trade shelter life for a home of her own. If you’re looking for a sweet, social young dog with plenty of personality, come meet her. Her adoption fee is $250

We have a theory about Miso.

Hear us out.

Miso is 4½ years old, 75 pounds, smart, slightly dramatic, very handsome, and has the kind of face that suggests he may pause mid-conversation and say something deeply philosophical about chaos theory.

So naturally, we have decided he is the Jeff Goldblum of shelter dogs.

Miso loves people, learns quickly, enjoys rope toys, and appreciates having something to do. He’s playful, loyal, a little chatty, and definitely has opinions.

He can do well with other dogs with a proper introduction, especially dogs who respect his space. Cats may also be possible with the right introduction. Miso would love a home with a big fenced yard and someone who understands shepherds and appreciates a dog with brains, personality, and absolutely spectacular ears.

Life, uh… finds a way.

We’re hoping Miso’s way leads straight to his forever home.

Some love stories come as a package deal. ❤️

Meet Darling & Sweetie, two beautiful senior cats around 14 years old who have spent their lives together and very much intend to keep it that way. Their owner became ill and could no longer care for them, so these two deeply loved girls are now looking for one more home to call their own.

They must be adopted together, because after 14 years, separating them would be downright rude. Frankly, they’ve earned the right to make demands.

Darling & Sweetie are part of our Silver Paws Program, which means their adoption has been generously sponsored for an approved adopter. They are also fully vetted, including bloodwork, and ready to head home.

What they need now is someone who sees senior cats for what they are: absolute treasures. No kitten chaos. No climbing your curtains at 2 a.m. Just two lovely girls looking for a soft place to land, together.
